This is a conversation with James Bridle, an author, artist, and technology thinker whose work primarily focuses on the links between technology, cognition, and society. This conversation relates to his research topic, and I relied on his latest book, "Ways of Being," to prepare for the interview. James invites us to question how we define intelligence and to realize that we understand almost nothing about the intelligence of the living world around us. For him, the development of digital technologies, networks, and AI is an opportunity to imagine that other forms of communication and intelligence are possible, and that we would do well to take a closer look at all those that already surround us.
