BG 20 full-range speaker with tweeter dome VS BG20 NO tweeter dome / DIY speaker build.
hello friends!
I'm glad to see you on my KZbin channel.
Today we will conduct an interesting experiment with the BG20 speaker from Visaton.
This full-range speaker with tweeter dome.
for the experiment, I will cut off the additional dome from the speaker.
we will listen to the difference in sound and see the frequency response of this speakers.
here are both frequency response graphs. in the following videos I will try to remove this hump using a notch filter.
see you in new videos.

This is tough to decide...in some passages. it sounds better with the dome tweeter, but imo, most of the time it sounds better without the dome tweeter, this is very interesting results indeed. I thought cutting the tweeter would ruin the speaker, now I changed my mind.

Very good test, it demonstrates how much the orientation of the speakers and implicitly the reflections in the room matter if listening at a distance. Can you tell me what program you used for the tests?

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Verygood video.both speakers are fantastic sound quality .difference between both speakers liike 19/20...without whizzer is little first response.both are approximately same to me.but solid wood like pine..teakwood cabinet is better than mdf.for fullrange speakers.👍🏼👍🏼

I see you have a lot of projects ;) I have a question, pleased if you're willing to give me your opinion, please. I own a pair of Audio Nirvana Super 8" coaxial drivers in an +/-90 cubic liter reflex boxes. In your opinion are these Visaton at the level of my drivers if they are mounted in a proper designed cabinet? Regards from Chile.

housing acoustics solo100 from Visaton. there is no video of removing the cone. simply carefully cut with tweezers or small scissors. I didn’t manage to remove the cone by heating, good glue))

I think I have come to a conclusion finally. Without the dome tweeter the hi hat sounds like white noise and with it sounds more natural.

@@steveshore4911 Hello! I'm interested in your method, but I don't understand it! Do you still have the footage available? You can't send it any other way, isn't it possible on watsapp? With that sewing thimble, I think the sizes actually matter, I think there is an ideal size, right?

@@nerdfpv No , my own projekt . Main Speakers are two B200 one in the front (way quiter) and one in the back as close as possible together in a speciel horn whith ventilation to the top and to the bottom . The resistor of the front speaker allowes me to bring in a capacitor in paralell for high boost . I use two BG 20 for the higher sub open (no box). And one 18 inch for the low end open (no box). One BG 20 is on the top of the little horn the other below . The 18inch is near the floor . Totaly hight is ca. 2m . 5 speakers per channel . The B200 have a 3.5 Watt per channel tube amp and this is brutal loud (whith pre amp) . The subs got two subamps . One for all the BG 20s and one for the two 18inch speakers . Whith this speaker system you hear every room , its like beeing the secret service . You need the wall in the back to reflect the sound and i placed various steel pannels in the room to reflect the highs . The room is not my enemy , its my friend , i use it to make the sound realistic and great . The 8inch speakers gives the original size to the instruments and everything . In this constelation the room makes the sound way louder . I hate it to kill sound .

I don't believe at all at this VERY CLOSE mesurment. I like a mesurment at let say 2~2,5 m . That is more realistic. No one is listening music at 10~30cm, I believe
