I had att fiber installed about 8 years ago. I have a 5268ac box w/ ONT right now, I happen to have a spare BGW320 that att left at my office. Can I just plug the ONT into the 320 or not?
@purewhips15 күн бұрын
No it has to be converted to that fiber line. Call att and have them creat a ticket to have that upgraded.

@ update: tried it anyways and didn’t work at first. Att Ai support, on the home app, reset the connection and it’s working now.

Would any if these work for setting up internet/ wifi inside of a camper?

can you plug a separate router directly into that wall jack ethernet port? bypassing that white chubby box?
@purewhips1 Жыл бұрын
Have to use att devices. You can connect a third party router to att on port one.

@@purewhips1 so the wallplate thing is not a modem for the ISP ?
@purewhips1 Жыл бұрын
The fiber jack is just a junction spot and needs to be ran to the bgw320. The Ont is a fiber modem but needs to be connected to the att gateway. 210 or the 5268

@@purewhips1 is the gateway absolutely necessary? i've used googlefiber before where i can directly ethernetconnect my old router to the wallplate and router starts assign IPs. not with the att wallplate despite it having a ethernet output port

I do not have a setup like this. I have a small white box on the wall with a single fiber cable attached. This goes into a very small gray box and from there to my 5268AC. There is an red RJ45 plugged into this small gray box labeled LAN 1G. That is connected into the ONT slot in the 5268AC. What do I do?

That should give you service for the internet.. Is the pon and power light green?

I got my fiber installed about 5 years ago but i didn't get the new white router i got the old u-verse black one instead...i got thr 1GB speed plan...i do get about 950 mbps speeds close enough... is there a big difference between the 2 routers?
@purewhips1 Жыл бұрын
If you have the whit Ont and the 210 or 5268 set up. You’re doing fine. I’d say try and get that 320. But depends on where the line is at. They might not be able to drop that line. The 320 does give out better Wi-Fi coverage. It’s a Wi-Fi 6 router so you can get Wi-Fi 6 speeds. Like about 500-650 on Wi-Fi but with in about 10-15 ft from it.

I would remove the jack it there was on in the new house. AT&T sucks.
@purewhips14 ай бұрын
So remove the phone jack from your house all the fiber lines enjoy your cable modem from them cable company who only gives you 100 down and 20 upload on their fiber system

Sup brother so I have the ONT in the living room from previous Wi-Fi with att few years back they are sending me the fiber one on Tuesday I believe, does it come with that red wire? I don’t have the red wire on the ONT.
@purewhips1 Жыл бұрын
So it should come with it. But just Incase it doesn’t. It would be a basic Ethernet cord cat5e or better. Any Walmart target Home Depot Lowes will have them. Now if it’s the fiber line. They will need to send out a tech to have it configured for the fiber 320.

@@purewhips1so I have it set up right now to the ONT in living room both power cables and the red Ethernet cable. The fiber is connected to the ONT is that how it’s supposed to be? Wi-Fi is working but when I run speed test it says “ your internet is slower than expected”

@@antman5628 are you running it on the smart home manager app? What kind of speeds are you getting also?

@@purewhips1 yup home manager app. I got 7.4mbps on download speeds and 9.1 on upload speeds which it shouldn’t be if I’m paying for the 1000gig plan right?
