You know, it’s not common for me to find somebody that likes to talk about their regrets in Bible journaling SO THANK YOU!! And I think this sounds SO SILLY but I know many people don’t take notes or craft in their Bibles for the fear of messing up.. and they end not taking notes in general and just have a superficial read of Scripture that goes away from your mind the next day.. you know what I am saying? Messing up is just another part of the journey.. messing up teaches you how to keep growing, how to be more efficient and that your Bible become more helpful as you keep striving to increase your Bible literacy.. idk just saying! Love you faith

I had to have my hardcover Bible recovered several years ago. My local Bible bookstore sent it off to have it done. I ended up having a soft cover put on it. But yours still looks fixable. Hopefully some book glue will help you! Also, I completely agree about journaling things I would do differently! I just went through and erased a bunch of icons I had all through Philippians. It was from a previous in-depth study. Now, it’s too distracting. 🤪 But, oh how I LOVE taking notes in my Bible. It’s so great to go back and see the things I wrote through the years and how my faith walk and understanding has deepened! You are amazing and I am loving your videos. God is really blessed you with the gift of teaching and sharing! 💕💕

My Bible has been partially “spineless” for quite a while. The spine is intact but completely separated from the “block” of pages. More and more pages are separating away from the block, beginning from the front. Not an easy to deal with situation when sitting in the pew on Sunday mornings. My first solution was a Bible case/cover with a handle (this was before any pages began separating from the whole). The handle has now broken and I cannot find a cover that fits (my Bible is about 3 inches thick). My next solution was a re-purposed tote that my Bible along with its broken handled cover fit into perfectly. Both these solutions work great great but haven’t fixed the real problem. I called a book repair guy and it was not good news. He said that 1)it is very expensive because it is time consuming and 2)the repair was unlikely to hold up if I continue to use it. I decided to keep waiting and thinking about a DIY repair project. It just so happens that along with being an avid Bible reader and Bible study leader I’m also an avid paper crafter. I had an idea one day while watching a favorite YT crafter; to take what she was doing in making her own scratch pads and apply the process to my Bible. I haven’t tried it yet because it will require “down time” for my Bible while being rehabbed. My Bible study classes are in hiatus now for the summer so I will be working on this in the next few days. I could let you know the end result if you’d like. One thing I learned from the book repairman is that hard cover books have this problem much more frequently than soft cover books. My “problem” Bible is a hard cover but it is my first and favorite Bible. I have others and they are all soft cover books in various other translations. Passing that info along to your viewers to keep in mind when purchasing Bibles that they anticipate using for many years.

My problem has been... That, I, change my mind CONSTANTLY, I'm very indecisive. I, wanted Bible study perfection. So, I'm, not scared to write in my Bible. But, I've bought several Bibles, that are now just sitting there doing nothing. I, don't know what to do with these Bibles, as they have some highlighting/scribble already in them. I, realised Bible "journalling" with a rainbow of colours; was distracting and getting in the way of actually studying. So, I, now just use a black pen and that is it! Just using a black pen has been a blessing; I, can write loads of notes and, I'm, focused on, God (not whats the next best colour/doodling to use...!!!).
@teedoubleu9602 Жыл бұрын
I use black pen too, IF I have time and IF I want to, then I'll add color.. I need my notes to be basic to help me concentrate but I also need a pop of color to grab my attention.. Find your balance and enjoy the journey Jess

@@teedoubleu9602 Yeah, I, will do some fancy font, or boarders to make it a bit more appealing, or for an extra important note. And, I've, got yellow highlighters on hand if need be! And never know, down the road in a new season in my life; I just may all of a sudden be ready to use a rainbow of colours to Bible study!!! I, use a folder and print Bible pages out... So, I, can easily change things up if I ever want to.

For your bibles that are just sitting there, what if you assign each bible to a different study method? 1 focuses on themes, another on prayers, another is dedicated to your bible study, another to your daily devotions, etc, etc?? That's IF you wanna do that.. I have many bibles too that are sitting around but I use them when I'm cross referencing or when I'm reading in different translations, my NIV is for daily use, my ESV for Sunday use, my NLT for difficult to understand passages, my NASB '95 for when I'm listening to a John MacArthur sermon.. They're sitting there and get used only when I need to and wanna use them..

Lol, I love those earrings. I think it is through the mistakes we make with our bible journaling we learn what we like/don't like. While I think I know what works best for me, sometimes I still get caught up in how "pretty" it looks. And I have to remind myself that's not the point of journaling. It's suppised to enhance God's Word. A quick tip I learned was for simple mistakes, white gel pen helps cover them up. How's seminary going? Anything I can pray for you?

Have you seen the Illustrating Bible by Dayspring? It has a HUGE spiral binding. I think a huge spiral would work well for you. Also, have you heard of Tomoe River paper. If feels much like bible paper. It would work great as tip-ins to give you more pages to add notes. Those pages you consider “mistakes” or regrets, could be covered with a tomoe river paper tip-in.

@@elisaboyd5779 I'm glad for the journaling space for sure, but I have another Bible for carrying to church or small group. It's a really a nice MEV translation, but it was super cheap on Amazon ($16.97, I think). There is no earthly way I could tote that monster around. I received it on Tuesday and it's huge and HEAVY. I'm not experienced like Faith, I can't journal right in my Bible at church (I'd miss the other half of the service 😂). I take notes, then take the best nuggets and put those in my journaling Bible. Not because I'm worried about messing it up, more because I just shorthand/chicken scratch/bullet point what I hear and flesh it out later. 😊

I think I'd go for a professional rebind if this is a bible you plan to use for many years to come. It can be very expensive, but worth it if you have no intentions of changing Bibles. It would be a little scary to send your Bible with all its precious notes and trust someone to handle it with care. I had tried to have one rebound, with interleaved pages added, but no bookbinder could do that. That's how I ended up making mine with the discbound system. There will be definite pros and cons to that also.

Junk Journal makers have videos showing how to repair and expand book spines, maybe you could find a video that will help you with your Bible. For my Bible, I cut the outer cover straight down the middle of the spine and glued a piece of reinforced tyvek in to expand the spine by 3/4 inch then covered my Bible in Denim and decorated it, but I like artsy stuff.

Have you considered a loose leaf bible. I think Hendrickson makes one in ESV. If you want to keep putting that much stuff in your bible a sewn bible binding is not likely to hold up. I keep wanting to just cut the notes out and put them in my interleave but there is NO way to do that without cutting out some of God's word on the opposite side of the notes. :( i wish there was a journaling study bible, that would really tick all of the boxes for me

Bible journaling is just one of those things that I could never do...where do you find the actual Bible among all of the tabs, added pages, and coloring? It drives me bonkers to look at a Bible like that, let alone have a Bible like that! I don't know how ya'll do it. I have a few very small notes in my Bible and several of those I completely regret making. I am still trying to figure out my note taking process, or if I even really need one, no matter what I do it seems to take too much time, lead to regret, and just not be very profitable in the long run.

I am learning not to try and put EVERYTHING in one Bible. It's too much and too distracting. Especially if you add artistic touches. It makes sense to me to use a Bible for awhile and move on to another one. Or have Bibles with themes, where one Bible focuses on Love, or God, Faith, Family, etc. Have one for art work and another one for word studies and verse mapping. Another one for cultural and historical notes on what you are reading. If it's too much as far as too many physical Bibles for you, keep one Bible and don't mark it up except to add notations based on Jonathan Edwards Miscellanies notetaking method. Then do your notes digitally and match the notes with the notations in the Bible. Let's say, Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created..." V1P1-3 (that notation is made in the Bible by the verse, then you have a digital file named Volume One and the pages in this file have notes for Genesis 1:1 are pages 1-3). If you have further notes in later studies that go along with Genesis 1:1 you can add other notations in the Bible by the verse such as V10P55-56 for a digital file named Volume 10 and pages 55-56. Do a KZbin search for Jonathon Edwards Miscellanies notetaking for further information about this method of keeping notes.

I’m not Afraid to write in my Bible, but I don’t cover the words. I think that is disrespectful. it’s just a matter of respect. I have notebooks and folders that I use in correlation with whatever book of the Bible that I am working in. I will take a pencil and underline in my Bible I will write notes in the column of my Bible, I would even put a sticker in the column. just as long as it’s not covering up the word. can you imagine Moses is coming down from Mount Sinai holding the tablets, but On way he looks at them and thinks “This is so boring to look at” so he gets some berries and smears then all over the tablets, And he takes some leaves and sticks them all over the tablets (with who knows what, gross!) anyway by the time he gets down to the people, it’s barely readable he says “look! God’s word for you to imprint into your heart by reading and praying over daily. you can’t really read it cuz I decorated it , and you may lose focus cuz it so pretty you will get distracted, but if you try really, really hard you May get the basic idea”. Don’t Get me wrong Though, it’s beautiful! it’s very beautiful. it’s hard to believe it’s a Bible, it’s so beautiful. looks like a decorated coffee table book or something. Very creative.
