If you buy an old chateau or house, the roof is the first thing you need to tackle. That will save a lot of hassle later. And congratulations on the baby.

Absolutely. We patched it as best we could but didn’t have to the €250k required to change it… which is our longer term plan. French banks have been hopeless at following up on promises as we’d been given a loan in principle before we moved only to be told they’d stopped lending by the time we had. 🤯 other banks have led us on for months and months only to turn us down 🤦🏻‍♂️ #1 lesson is to make sure you have the cash to do the work yourself as a renovation loan in France is very hard to come by.
