This is the cleanest set up there is.Even the flat surfaced tire is well suited for the friction drive. I think most of us would just really like to know part names and #s. Thanks so much for tearing your bike down and making the assembly video for us.

I have the BMP kit mounted on a beach cruiser using a 50 cc 2-stroke engine and it is great! the kit installed very easily in less than 30 minutes and I ride every day and have had no problems at all. My bike will go over 33 mph and I love it. Thanks for such a great kit. Bill

I ordered one kit, it was shipped promptly, well packaged and I'm still waiting for the engine to come in from a different company, but I'm already pleased with the quality and workmanship of this kit. Way better than expected! Good job James, keep up the good work! Thank you for producing a damn good quality product.

Runs 25-30 mph full throttle. Wind and hills affect top speed. Not as fast as the chain driven motors but a lot more reliable. The ride is really smooth. I'm up to 1,925 miles now on the same rear tire.

Friction drive is simple and reliable. This kit looks a lot like every other friction drive kit. The in frame 2 stroke "China Girl" kits are much lower quality (rag joint spoke breaker, dangerous chain tensioner, cheesy clutch mechanism, weak engine mounting system, enough vibration to break steel frames, etc.) but they can be made to work if you have the time to fix things as they break. I've installed 2 China Girl kits and one Staton friction drive kit. There are rear chain drive kits too.

I made my own a few years back with a modded 49cc Kawasaki and the friction works ok long as its dry for one, and long as its adjusted right. I had it made so I could push down harder with my right foot for extra grip it helped to pedal start then let the motor take over. Sometimes if it came unadjusted I could feel hot tire pieces hit the back of my legs. I made an expansion chamber from a 250cc Honda and cut it down that helped with the top end I had it up to 38.5 mph and put many miles on it.

Great video you are very thorough. I watched both videos one and two and plan on getting an engine on my bike. Keep up the good work!

Very nice! Simple, easy to install and an enjoyable ride. Only problem, at least in my state, I don't think it can be road legal. Here we need to have turn signals, brake light, maybe mirrors and I think a certain type of brakes per code. Maybe there would be a way to also run a generator and have a small moped battery to power turn signals and such. If there's a will there's a way!

the thing i like most about mounting it on a bike, is if you run out of gas, all you have to do is pedal to the next gas station. i have experience of running out of gas a few miles away from home on my goped, not only do you have to pick it up and carry it, you have to mix oil in with the fuel as well, which is hard to do when u need to have a precise mixture.

I bought and installed this kit. Overall I am very satisfied, but I am going to share a few negatives. The bracket bolts that were with the kit did not fit my bike. The bolt holes for mounting the gx35 honda engine were also too small for the bolts included in the kit. The throttle cable was too long for the gx35 honda engine as well. The set screws do not work with a typically allen wrench set. Last but not least, the roller eats up the tire if you open the throttle too wide at low speeds.

friction drive method is very simple to install but it's eating up your tire on every 3 tanks of gas... so if you're looking for a quick fun and cheap, this is a good start...
@geraldhenrickson74728 жыл бұрын
Nope. I get 2500-3500 miles per tire. Use the widest, smoothest tire that will fit. I recommend the Maxxis hookworm or similar slick or nearly smooth tire.

@shrimper2121 not really, if you adjust the force just right, it's probably more efficient than gears or sprockets, but simplicity is the main selling point.

Do you know if there's a way to remove the clutch on those engines and just use the shaft? I'm thinking of a total 48:1 reduction through a gearbox and sprocket to a large cog on the left pedal. I don't need the clutch cause I want to be able to start the engine by pedalling.

Update: 3,053 miles as of July 5th. Still haven't changed tires. The little Honda GX35 is still going strong. No problems with the kit either. No wear on the drive roller and the sealed bearings are still nice and smooth. The only problems have been with the bike. Two broken spokes, both on the back wheel. No big deal. The wheel was a cheapy. I have upgraded to a heavy duty wheel to prevent more broken spokes.
