In the hospital I worked at nurses were getting punched in the throat. In the OR the doctors were abusing us, one went to jail for hitting a nurse. Hospitals are terrible places for staff and patients. I was on the safety board, and what an eye opening experience that was. We kill more patients from accidents than actual health problems. Plus nursing is not the same. They want your life and will not work with you for scheduling. I am ready to give up nursing all together. I am a 12 year hospital nurse. It is not worth the abuse anymore. The healthcare system is broken. Please bring up the shots....that almost coste my job.

If I was an RN I would work for a doctor at their office. My doctor's nurse didn't smile much when she first started, but after a few years she actually talks to me and smiles. My mother was an OR nurse and she ended her career by being a Spanish interpreter for a bunch of lawyers. Don't give up the US needs nurses who care.

@@sammythompson3694 office nursing is worse in a way you work long hours for worse pay and less PTO. But the last bit does sound nice. I should work for lawyers. Thanks for the idea.

Dr Jeff has had a few nurses over the last 13 years that I have seen him and this last one been there at least 3 years then his other nurse went on paternity leave so the one runs the office. Look on GPS maps for Whiteville NC to see a small town. I know personal things about my doctor's and nurses. Who knows these things in the city? We don't mind waiting, because we know each patient has to ask the doc if he has been fishing lately or about his son graduation. If you are going to change jobs then a small town would probably be better too. I've been here since 89 after working 12 years in NYC now retired.

Lol. This is basically what I was saying as a comment on your last video. Good upload on the video topic. Thanks for making this video to solidify my comment. Good luck with the 1099 Expo! Oh, and yes the executives of nursing homes and boards are making a ridiculous amount of money. Well into 6 figures but the main workers (LPNs mostly) have 30 patients to look after with med passes. Less than 5 minutes to spend pushing a cart and give meds per resident. By the time you give out morning meds it’s lunch and you’ll have to go back to the starting line to give out mid day meds, literally right after ending with your morning meds. And for those who think “nah, no way.” Yes, because you probably didn’t think about the many times you have to stop because everyone stopping you in the hall every 3 steps, the residents that take 20 pills and only 1 at a time, talking with the residents, talking with each one of the 30 and reassuring them that it IS in fact their medicine because you constantly have to answer their questions of “why is it a different color, why is it smaller, why is it bigger, why is it a different shape, I’m not taking my insulin, I don’t take insulin?” Etc.. Then you have stop and clean up the residents, oh and ps. Good luck trying to get a CNA, most nowadays are lazy, or sadly the ones that are great are very over worked and underpaid. And there might be 1 MAYBE 2 CNAs per wing of a building. Therefore, a CNA could have 60 to 80 residents to look after….There are more I could add on but at 30 residents per just 10 minutes that’s 5 hours of work…and like I said now it’s lunchtime and you do it all again…. I will add that those who are nurses LPN or RN you can get a PRN gig of just passing out meds for a couple of hours then leave. Believe it or not it GREATLY helps the residents and other workers and the pay is a bit nice for the work.

Nomad, I would like to know more about the entrepreneurship side you are talking about. Is this something that an LPN can do as well? I have 30 yrs experience in nursing with a mixture of nursing home, SNF, also work in a hospital currently. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you 😀

School is too expensive and nurses, dr’s- the educational expenses cost too much and the doctor’s then charge for their student loans and time it took making nothing- healthcare is a business for profit and yet the nurses and people doing the daily care- do not receive the pay that warrants the time and cost of education and the wages lost during those years studying and not earning.

I have not seen a video posted by "Nomad" in the past 10 months. I sent an email and received no response. I am transitioning to Independent Contrating and before I buy his $230 Entrepreneur course from the Nomad Nurse website, I would like to know he is still in business and available for consultation. Has anyone contacted him recently?

I'm wondering if the staffing shortages will raise malpractice insurance? If that occurs the answer is in my question.

So, I want to believe that the simple supply and demand model would work here. But I am concerned that there are too many other variables at play. We know that its not necessarily that we are experiencing a nursing shortage; it's that we are experiencing a shortage of nurses that will do the work for the money corporations are willing to pay. Yes, mandates may require facilities to hire more staff, but if you're opening those positions at $18/hr for licensed professionals with two and four year degrees, those positions will likely remain unfilled. All that to say, I sincerely hope our profession changes for the better for nurses, but I'm not optimistic. That being said, thank you for being an "out of the box" conversation starter for the field of nursing. We need more people like you to remind us that its not only okay, but absolutely necessary for is to advocate for ourselves.

Well said! I think it’s a combination of both. Smaller generation coming up + the failure of hospitals to retain nurses. Underpaying is a significant issue

Biden is A&OX2 I’m so glad I saw the writing on the wall in the early 2000s and went into nursing. The shortage is only gonna get worse day by day. Just like you said supply and demand. I still want to do more research into doing my own LLC travel nursing gig. Also, I’m deathly going to be using that 1099 website you talk about
