The problem is that how are we supposed to find the high-dollar contracts without these agencies? These hospital systems and their VMSs are working with the big players (e.g., Cross Country, Aya) because they can reliably filter out and provide a steady stream of nursing labor to these hospitals rapidly. Why would a VMS choose to work with my hypothetical independent LLC versus a travel nurse agency instead?

Got screwed over with AMN for my first assignment… bill rates are impossible to find imo unless the hospital or agency tells/shows you… you can get a good idea of what it is if you work with a recruiter and then search the same job with a recruiter-less agency (one with less overhead)

If this bill is only for the state of Illinois how does it help travel nurses in other states. Yes its a good thing for Illinois. Hopefully it will spread across states and other bills will be introduced

Please share us your thoughts about SF Bay Area Nurses. Why its less likely SF Bay Area Nurses becomes travel Nurses? Also why most travel Nurses are from the southern states?

What do you think about Nursing in the Military? Like in the Army, Navy, AirForce?

Did 10 years of Navy Nurse and civilian nurse per diem at the same time. Benefits are good I.e free health care especially if you have large family. However, that’s where the good stuff ends. Get ready to work48-60 hours a week. On call all the time. Your vacation/leave have to work more days on the back end to make it up for the days you were off. To get promoted play cut throat politic games. Additionally navy has been gutting its medical force for the past 15 years making staffing horrendous which is partly why you have to make up your vacation hours. Get into manager position and do patient care etc. i can go on and on but honestly I wouldn’t recommend unless you need the experience. Do 3-4 years and get out asap. If 6 year contract no way in my opinion.

Yes, travel nurse get very little or no real orientation so he or she better be more than proficient in all nursing skills.
