I like it, but you could also play on that and then let the name evolve in a more organic way that ended up with the English-speaking locals calling it something that sounds more like words they know, like Old Brownsburg, or shortening it to something Obrunsburg.

If we would wanna go tea-related: the most famous German tea is the „Friesentee“ or „Ostfriesentee“… so i propose „East Friesen“ or maybe you could call the River Friesen

For your very deep river, you could just lean in and emphasize its canyon-ness. And turn it into a feature and make it a national park or something. I haven't really seen anyone do that.

I don't know, seems a bit odd to me. There doesn't seem to be a clear center of this conglomerate of separately grown up cities. It's like they grew into eachother, and even the street layouts don't seem to be centered towards anything. The old town's streets in Europe always lead to a square, or towards a destination. And from one to another were conected for better transportation. I can't see the evolution from one part of town to the next, it seems as if Autumn Medows was the ”new city, built on the shining hill up above”, just so that the others can be conglomerated. I like the small triangles for the firehouse, and the crematorium. They are built in the right places, look like the type of square I was talking about, being a destination around destinations

I never ever saw a carpark in the middle of a german housing complex Biffman. Usually like in Belin you could walk around a houseblock without finding an entrance to the backyard. You can only enter those little green islands through the house itself

Missed opportunity to start and place the German train station with full upgrades for doublesided access and in what would be the center of the town and expand outwards from that. That is the way most older European towns actually are built. That and churches galore with huge empty squares for the towns people to meet up at the farmers markets etc. Most things use centers to expand outwards from. This is just "plop one here, something else here etc."

I have a suggestion about the highway in the EU section. In Berlin there is the "A100" highway that wraps around south/west Berlin. Most section of west Berlin have that highway sunken into the ground so the connection roads are not cut in half. They function as on- and offramps too. When you need more inspiration, there are some nice road layouts around "Savignyplatz", "Meyerinckplatz" and subwaystation "Spichernstr." West Berlin wasn't as much destroyed as the east in the war so you find more old style layouts there. For the future Japanpack I can suggest you some cool layouts in Tokyo. Interesting enough, the city of Pyongyang has some interesting street layouts and island builds.

Very nice! I wouldn't really call it "old town" though, those buildings are more like 19th-early 20th century, the kind that make up large parts of European inner cities. "Old town" to me at least connotates a much older area, like medieveal era.

Maybe a name that has changed over time. My idear is Kohl-Kaiser-Brück. The original name was Colonia Julius Caesar but after the Roman empire fell the name changed and because of a stone bridge surviving until the Middle ages Brück for Bridge was added. It would simbolise a milenia old history.

While I really enjoy this series, I can't shake the feeling that the 4way highway interchange was and still is hugely overbuilt. (Case in point: the tunnel for the industry buildings). The current German themed quarter is a good thing, however I feel like the Autobahn shouldn't be going through the old town.
@simongeard4824Ай бұрын
Yeah, I think that stack interchange should be downgraded... it's a massive system interchange, but with half of it now converted to urban roads, a simpler service interchange would be more in keeping with how the area is actually being developed.

If this new district is modelled after Berlin, it could have a name like Teelow. Seelow is a small town East of Berlin. And Tee is the German word for Tea. We also could get a German-French portmanteau and name it Thelow, with thé being the French word for tea. And to not turn it into the low, maybe Thelau instead.
