Yo Biffa. I love your videos. I recently was working on a map in hard mode and I made some observations that might be usefull, so I'll share it. 1. You are trying to irrigate the map, but you are wasting a ton of green land on berries. Ironteeth seem to ingnore the berries when they have other food. It isn't even contributing to their wellbeing score. You need them only for reproducing, and already have full storage, so deffinitely you should shrink it and build the farms. 2. More farms and water production will allow you to expand your bever population, which you need a lot. On normal mode it should be easy for you to go for at least 60 beavers I think. 3. Rather than irrigating the small area in the center of the base, you should make use of a lot of green land that you have already avalable elsewhere, like neer those new floodgates

Nice work with the canals, although you may find it drains back down into the rest of the river/lake during droughts, you can use dams instead of platforms every now and again to "chunk off" sections so it doesn't drain as easily.

1-wide channels don't water the crops much... that was a change made a couple of months ago. You should put a 3×3 "pool" at the end of the channel to get more irrigation out of it. You don't need a through-channel to the other side, but it's a good idea to terminate the channel with a swimming pool and get extra benefit for the beavers.
@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines5 ай бұрын
Nice idea 💡
@Frameton.5 ай бұрын
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines 1 wide channels also have a much higher evaporation rate than 3 wides. I think 3x faster out of "balancing" reasons. So a 1 wide channel evaporates as much water as a 3 wide, but only holds a 1/3
@nurmr5 ай бұрын
Yea, better to do a 3x3 pool with a water dump than a 1 wide channel. You can put platforms over the 3x3 dump, and buildings on top, so it doesn't actually waste much space.

Now that you have TNT, since you worry about saving enough water in "uptown," why not dig a 2 or 3-deep trench to increase the amount of water upstream? Easy and convenient way of making sure your crops don't die during droughts. 😊

Put the water storages next to the pumps to export. They won't empty them otherwise (unless you have another storage set to receive), that's why your water collection is so inefficient, they are walking all the way to the 3 medium tanks in the middle because the ones next to the pumpers aren't emptying.
@namelessbeast48685 ай бұрын
Later in the series, I think it would be good to reorganize the position of some buildings and redo the paths. Your beavers are wasting a lot of time moving between their tasks/workplaces/food and water. I really like the paths above the waterways, there's something so satisfying about seeing the map become greener!

You should check out the "Simple Triggers" mod. It will open and close your floodgates and turn on and off your water pumping stations automatically when droughts or badtides start and stop. It's a great quality of life mod that has saved by butt more than once during a badtide.

I'd try to make automated power (waterwheels) your highest priority. All functions you'll want later require a lot of power. As soon as you unlock domes, you can have a continuous bad water flow. With that, you can have continuous power from water wheels.

You can significantly increase the spread of green by making sections of the canal to be 2 or especially 3 wide. one wide is only about 6 tiles on either side, while two wide is 8, and three wide is about 16 tiles. I believe its a 2x3 or 3x3 pool of water needed to get the maximum irrigation area, and that is huge. Also just having underground space when done right is a very useful. Having pathways all underneath with ladders to bring them up right to the dense buildings on top can get things very compact, especially if you use storages as most of the base.

Loving the series, really looking forwards to you fiddling with the settlement system, decentralized beavers that dont have to walk far are much more efficient. Also, prioritizing everything for the haulers is just as good as not prioritizing anything when you only have so few beavers doing it
