Hey, Skye? A really fun place to put the aesthetic decorations is in basements under the houses. Dynamite down, then platforms and overhangs to have a stash of them. It's completely ridiculous, but it does get them out of the way so that nobody's tripping over them. Loving the series.

So I was on a previously refreshed youtube page when I thought "I wonder about Skye, let me go to his page to see how he is doing" and as I opened a new youtube tab I saw you posted this video. I haven't watched it yet but I have to say I grinned and went "YAY!". Your videos, your commentary, Picture's giggles in the background, are all great, are all highlights of my day. That accumulative effect idea for decor-well-being is actually a much better idea I agree, I think maybe as a compromise maybe so you can’t just shove a bunch of bushes in a corner for a boost is maybe having the decor detect when there are beavers nearby so that like if beavers are around a decor atleast 50% of the time it gives a full boost to the whole colony

My version of that idea: In my opinion all decorations should have a large area of effect, and apply the effect instantly. Then you have more freedom to place stuff along paths or in parks, but if you place small decorations on the other side of the map they don't give benefits. Expensive decorations/propaganda could cover the whole map, because they can be seen from a long distance. Entertainment effects should last several days (one week?) so they have time to stack several different effects.

Watching through the mountain range series and got to the part where he’s removing scarecrows and it gave me a better idea I think, keep the same system but include a new special condition for decorations that can make their effects global, like for scare crows have X number of Scarecrows completely surrounded by Y number of different crops, granting bonuses that require decorations and food diversity, or for bushes require X number of chains of Y bushes to create green spaces/parks, maybe requiring them to be near trees or something to develop park spaces fir neat environments!

That one beaver missing the wellbeing buffs would either be a wounded one, or more likely a newborn who had yet to spend a night at home. I used to find that happening a lot which is why I got into the habit of putting my breeding pods around the housing. Doesn't much matter though, they pick up the buffs inside a day anyhow and as long as you've got about 95% of the population buffed it rounds up the values. Looking forward to seeing the dam complete, curious as to your overflow solution for it though, on my current run I've hit a mild snag with overflow causing tidal surges which temporarily flood part of my tree and crop areas for 2 days every wet season (not a big issue but it's tricky to solve atm without major redesigns or LOTS of work).

Absolutely agree with the well-being stuff. Much better idea to have them set to give their effect per beaver. Like one brazier for every ten beavers in the colony. Doesn't matter where. That means no more ridiculous setups on top of roofs - which is currently the only way to get big well-being buffs before the end game period where everything is run by bots and well being buffs no longer even matter.

Obviously you know way more about this game than me but from what I’ve watched from other KZbinrs I was under the impression that the decorations gave bonuses when they were walked past, not just for being in proximity to houses. Again, never actually played the game so I’m probably wrong but worth checking out

You're kinda right. Basically, when they are within the decors aoe, they gain the effect. How long they retain the effect after leaving the aoe depends on how charged the bar for it is, and that is based on how long they spent in the aoe. Because of that, it only makes sense to put decor in areas where all of your beavers are consistently staying in a small area for long periods of time, which is essentially only the housing areas.

I agree about well-being. It also discourages districts, because you have to mirror all you're well-being in each district making them really annoying if you just want to setup a small one for building or a specific purpose. Love you vids :)

Skye's take on the well being is something I hadn't considered. I wonder if perhaps a solution could be a third faction that uses a bit of an "inverse area of effect" where well-being elements must be spread out or have their influence reduced or removed. Almost something like "beavers like to be stimulated but have ADHD so overstimulating them just drives them to distraction"

@@SkyeStorme Let's just casually ignore you actually recognized my name :D It's a side of doing this stuff that those that watch don't really appreciate I think, you can ignore it for so long, but when you invest so much time and energy in to this stuff and maybe factor in a bad day or whatever outside of youtube then boom that 1 comment spirals. Most of the negative stuff I see is about how I sound, so I now have a zero tolerance approach as I can't exactly go buy a different voice and they just go in to the blocked bin. Channel is doing good, although slowed down a little as I took a bit of a break due to life and at the starting point of a series so no crazy projects to pull people in yet :)
