Takes more than just good QB play to win it all. Patriots had a top ten defense in 2014 while both the Steelers and Saints defenses were god awful.

Drew Brees co-lead the league in passing yards despite the fact that the Saints couldn't win the South over Carolina in the end

That defense at the time was atrocious. Offense was scoring like 25pts on average and still getting blown out. Iirc their offense was top 10 but their defense was close to dead last. That was a tough season for us fans.

2014 was one of the most spectacular seasons Ben Roethlisberger ever had in his NFL career especially the moment from Week 8 where he went absolute BONKERS by dissecting the Colts defense with 522 passing yards and six touchdown passes as the Steelers outmatched the Colts in a dominant 51-34 victory at Heinz Field!

I only wished that Brees won an MVP title, best gifted qb I've seen.
@youlesie235 күн бұрын
Brees had an uncanny knack for having his best seasons whenever another QB had a historic season unfortunately. 2008 wasn’t really his fault, unfortunately the Saints missed the playoffs. Had they made it he’d have probably won MVP. 2009, Peyton had the Colts undefeated until Caldwell pulled the starters in week 16 (you still could’ve made a good argument for Drew that year mind). 2011, Rodgers broke the record for single season passer rating. 2018, Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns in his first season starting. Hard to think of another player who had the bad luck that Drew did when it came to MVP races.

They both finished their seasons with 4,952 yards. It’s a draw!!! The only difference is Drew Brees had 33 touchdowns while Ben Roethilsberger had 32 touchdowns, that’s all. I feel they both were in the race for the NFL passing title. It was a close competition, but Brees edged out Roethlisberger by a narrow margin
@chuckyjamesamartin19685 күн бұрын
Ben also only had 9 INTs to Brees' 17, had the same amount of yards on fewer passes, had a higher passer rating, and he won 11 games to Brees only winning 7.

Brees. Obviously Ben has the rings but Drew consistently had weaker rosters than Ben did (until 2018). Felt like Drew did more with less. And I don’t mean that as a slight on Ben at all. 2009 aside, the Saints teams of 2006-2016 consistently found ways to let him down in ways that the Steelers rarely could with Ben.
