Corn is a good idea for the holidays...I do the same... I live w 2 parrots, but spend time as I don't want to spend the money belonging to a parrot box every so often club .

Thanks for watching, everyone! I don’t buy my birds a ton of toys because I’m picky. I prefer natural enrichment so finding toys I like for my parrots isn’t easy!

I'm with you on natural enrichment, but one free toy they all like playing with is a champagne cork (or any bottle cork, but I drink sparkling, as a rule). The smaller birds love to roll them around and Rax likes to drop them on the dogs. All the birds have a good chew on them too and they're soft enough for the smallest beaks ro pull apart.

My birds love toys. You’re boy, Knute is currently a blue stained white breasted caique. His head is green his beak and breast are blue. I soak the colored wood but it still bleeds when he wets it. He dunks everything. I try to buy only natural wood. But, it is sometimes hard to find and it’s more expensive. I also don’t like to buy wooden toys put together with woven string. A couple of the birds chew the string. I’m so frightened of them swallowing it. So if I get a toy, by mistake, with string, I take it apart. I also avoid bells and plastics, except PVC. My birds are very good at totally destroying toys in less than a week. So, I scavenge useable pieces to make “new” toys. This Christmas they’ll be getting the messiest toys around, sola balls. It’s interesting only one of my birds really likes boxes, paper towels to toilet paper. Happily only one is very interested in redesigning our furniture. I wish I could trust my palms. We have a small Sago palm in the back yard. They are deadly poisonous to birds and mammals. We had a large Sago in the front yard that Dean cut down and destroyed the stump. We now have a huge rock over the remains.

My blue boy! I understand- I soaked mine and soaked and soaked. Yes, hard to find toys that pass the Kalyn test. And yes, I disqualify natural enrichment quickly at the sight of anything uncouth.
