Always skeptical nowadays. I want to be excited but with the movie being a flop it's hard to. Even if the movie was just *okay*, I'd be more excited. It just feels like a crystal ball and their cringy humor phase isn't over. If the game is the same fun without the story as it is with, I wouldn't be surprised.

For clarification! The beams that show up when items are dropped on the ground aren't just gameplay things! They exist in-universe, and S&S manufactures them! It's revealed in a random radio broadcast in BL3.

I always felt it was weird that in the last two games, sirens have been a main plot point but the player siren has no real play in that, even if they don’t do another player siren it’d be neat to see the characters actually playing a role in the story.

Because it's kinda like a time thing sirens usually gain story relevance with time because new sirens aren't really capable which is why Lilith got stronger over and Maya meditated etc over time it kinda stuff you learn from time and patience

As far as the playable vault hunters being more involved with the story goes, I'd love to see NPCs speak to you differently depending on your character, sort of like how NPCs in skyrim would comment on your race or the kind of armor/weapon you had equipped. It was nice having more unique dialogue from the vault hunters in 3, and I'd like to see that extend to the NPCs when speaking to the vault hunters. Imagine if in BL2, Roland had certain lines he would only say to axton because they're both former soldiers, or Lilith having lines she only says to Maya because theyre both sirens

Definitely! I mean, while being called "Vault Hunter" is kind of a series staple, how hard would it to just have each character's name in there instead? It's not like the characters are blank slates, they are each named with histories and personalities in the lore, so have them addressed by name by their main allies! Sure, random characters and most enemies would still call them vault hunters, but the main cast should use their names. Why would Lilith STILL be calling her strongest ally "Vault Hunter", when she could be speaking Maya's name instead? It's rather dumb that, after working so much together, that all your allies still just call you the generic "Vault Hunter" instead of your name! It would be a small thing, but would make each playthrough feel more personalised to the character you are playing.

@@dahn57it’s probably because of split screen co-op. If you’re playing as two different characters they can’t have 2 audio recordings that use different names come out of the same tv. Plus it just makes dialogue flow easier to just say “Vault Hunter” rather than characters names which can make dialogue feel weird depending on who you’re playing as. Like Salvador has a much longer name than Maya and would feel weird trying to just swap their names in the same sentence.

Me too, the series took such a huge shift in tone after the first game, and I think it’s a shame. Took me years to actually play all the way through bl2 after release because of this. The music was a big part for me.

Idk, the bandits all being influenced by one group seems...still a bit too far fetched, mayne splitting them into factions work better, like the deference between Redbelly's gang and the Dark Siders on Elpis. Just a name and costume change sure, but it makes a little bit more sense than "oops! Only Calyps-Os"

That would be really cool. Especially since guardians like the sentinal have similar abilities to amara. So they'd be able to have a new playable character type while still playing like a siren.

Joltz I think the concept art is all for the new planet that was hidden. It would make sense that it would be packed and densely populated if they were isolated from the rest of the universe for a long time. So I think there will also be some classic barren planets that we’re used to.

It’s also very possible that they specifically showed the art for dense cities on the planet since that would be far more interesting than concept art for a baren area. Personally, I hope the whole game (or at least most of it) is on one planet so it gets more detail and attention

All I want is a return to the morally gray tone that made the series so special in the first place, It wasn’t just a simple case of good or bad. The first two games dropped us into a world where everyone was out for themselves, driven by greed, revenge, power, but most just trying to survive. Nothing captures this idea so succinctly than the very music that backdrops the games intros-"Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" in the first game, and "Short Change Hero" in the second, sets out at the beginning to let the player know that this isn't a tale of heroes and villains, only Vault Hunters, and people in the way. The Vault Hunters in the first two games weren't out to save the world; they were treasure hunters, mercenaries, people with their own agendas. Hell, the only reason the Vault Hunters are set on the path they're on, is because they initially SIDED with Handsome Jack, and were betrayed. They didn't go after him because it was the right thing to do, they did it to get even. Handsome Jack also wasn't evil just for the sake of being evil. He views the Vault Hunters as just as bad as the psychos and bandits of Pandora (which he isn't wrong to believe to some extent) and viewed himself as the hero who was gonna bring order to the chaos, even if his methods were ruthless. That’s what made the story so engaging-you never knew who was truly right or wrong. Then Borderlands 3 came around and traded all that for comically evil, and unbearably annoying villains, and somehow even more annoying heroes. (other than zane, he can do no wrong in my eyes) Here’s hoping Borderlands 4 goes back to its roots and brings back that complex storytelling. That’s the Borderlands I fell in love with, and it would be awesome to see that depth return.

For the Vault Hunters' involvement in the story, I think if they do what they did in "Dead Island 2" could be fun. The cutscenes do involve the characters themselves, Even being in 1st person, But the main thing is, in DI2, when the survivors talk they each say something different. Not too different, Every character might just say "WTF' but they'll each say if differently, the way they say it in a way to imply personality. Think the drop-pod scene from BL3, but in a story cutscene.

I think this will be the more “Darker” version of a borderlands game. Not talking about horror (while the possibilities of certain game parts is there), but a more grim feeling with darker humor, darker/grim settings, more a feeling there’s a war going on.

Just because 3 has flashier visuals thanks to UE4 doesn’t automatically make it a better game. 😂 It was held back massively by baffling design choices like getting rid of pearls and making legendaries super common etc.

Gearbox has a lot of cleanup to do after the recent disasters. I'm cautiously optimistic with this news in particular, but overall, I'm not spending my money until I see the end product. After the Borderlands movie, BL3, Wonderlands, New Tales, and even Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm just a few days ago, Gearbox has done nothing but miss for several years. It's going to take a lot to regain trust.

Jack was the entire game "all talk, no action" and Angel even reforces that during the control core sequence, so I can totally see the VHs getting surprised by he coming out of nowhere, and when finally getting their senses back... you know Lillith tries to attack him, he's just quicker on the act, and then the Vault Hunters just don't want him to kill her... ~It all depends on how believable you can make a scene, which wasn't the case with any of them in BL3...

Something I'd love to see but highly doubt they'd do, is make a playable character with non flesh health. Like if FL4K was all armor instead, or a siren will natural shields in place of most for their HP. I'd also like to see options outside of shields for extra health, again give us armor or some new kind of hit point. I want them to experiment with new stuff like Health, I think it'd be cool at least.

Sirens having shields naturally would be an interesting tie to their Eridian ancestry. But, perhaps on top of that, shields that provide ogher kinds of protection too, a shield that gives you armor on top of your health bar with a corrosive weakness sounds instead pretty neat, right?

You're the only channel i've heard that mentioned that the new 4 vault hunters are gonna finally be shaken up but as well have possibly different story paths no matter how minor it is that has gotten me really excited and even more so with our charaters finally being involved and put in with the cut scenes. Also makes me feel relived that GearBox are FINALLY LISTENING about who we like. This could be the start of something good. Don't wanna get too excited but it is seeming positive! I mean...borderlands 4 is their last chance. Wonderlands, New Tales and recently the movie... . My expectations are very low now. The writers for bo3 ruined already established characters not to mention all the new ones. And the lazy npc design like on eden 6...they all share the same eye colour. Also the normal bandits have all babyfaces. All those little details changed borderlands in a weird way. I miss the dark humour but still with some seriousness overall and being a "badass".

The grinder should return fully with multiple functions on top of it's original purpose. Such as rebuilding a weapon to change all it's stats or even changing the weapons level to match you're current level (both up and down) I also think the ability to makes weapons like the eridian fabricator would be cool too. It would be interesting if the world inside the shield was completely isolated from the outside and had almost no knowledge of the vaults. The meteors bring eridium to this hidden planet which will lead to the opening of the vault. The villain could be a native of the new planet who tries to monopolize the new resources in some way. We could have a whole new host of enemies along with the ones we know who are also invading this new planet.

The meteors remind me of the random meteors in TPS that dropped loot. I used to really enjoy chasing those down. I'm relieved they're going with fully developed Vault Hunter characters and not the custom builds like in Wonderlands. Those were fun for Wonderlands' D&D approach, but I like having fleshed out characters with more skill tree choices.

I doubt it'll effect the outcome of any events. It'll probably just be dialogue differences for the vault hunters and NPC depending on who you play. Most game's usually do it that way.
