This is a great trailer Dan. The area is gorgeous, I love the double tunnels and the bridges. Railfans were present along the route, I'm sure this is a once in a lifetime experience for them. I can't wait to see the full length video.

Thank you Z! Yes this was a popular area for sure with many other higher up on the canyon walls as well. This was one of the highlights of the run in Nevada.

You did it! You got the train audio in your video. That was awesome. I've been trying to do that, but it hasn't worked out. I'm going out to Palisade Canyon in three weeks because of your previous video on the area as it looks amazing. I forgot to ask before, but is this area a place where I will need to chase a train or would you say that a train comes by about every hour?

Thanks yes I did! It definitely takes practice and you really have to have the right audio to choose from to make it sound accurate. Hope you enjoy your time there. It can definitely be hit or miss out there but it's not easy to chase from the canyon. First time I was there I was lucky to get 5 trains in an afternoon/ evening but this last time I waited quite a while at one point for anything to show up. There is a Z train in the late afternoon that is pretty regular which heads East. That's the only predictable one I know of.

I am sure everyone else knows it, but what set of tracks are paralleling the UP tracks? I am guessing that it's currently BNSF, but what was it prior?

Double track mainline for the UP but it's the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific mainlines following each other through Nevada.

Love the video, really great catch! Almost perfect ... but ... ... the constant whistles of the train, sorry, hard disagree there. Would rethink that, just talk over it about your experience, some atmospheric music, anything but wrong train sounds. And fwiw I have a bunch of train drone videos posted just not on this personal channel

Thank you but careful on assumptions now! I chased the 4014 for a total of 6 days during this tour and I can not tell you how many times they blew that whistle just for the hell of it with no grade crossings or crowds of people around. It happened A LOT. So yes I threw a couple in there because it's exactly what they had been doing. There is also a grade crossing in this one that they blew for which maybe you didn't see.

Loved the video, liked the music but, unlike others, I am not happy with the soundtrack. Rather overpowering and repetitive. Hear the sound, then an echo of the sound or the echo of a sound then a magnification of the sound off canyon walls where there are no canyon walls. For me it got old fast. Train whistle: Two longs a short and another long leaves me looking for a crossing which seems to be missing. Those who disagree with me please go up the the three dots below the video, click on same select Thanks and put your money where your mouth is. Those agreeing with me do the same thing. Dan is giving us his time and talent to go out and capture this video. Then more time to edit and post these beautiful videos. And he tells us donations are not necessary. So the donations aren't required . But if you enjoy the videos' then occasionally let his wallet know you like them

It's no perfect and there's no way it can be because I have to use what I can from sound taken from the ground. The best I can do is match the sound and speed of the train together so the chuffs actually match but getting all technical with echos and all that... That's just way to tall of an order. I chased this thing for 6 days total during this tour and I cannot tell you how many times they blew the whistle just for the heck of it without anything around to warrant it so I'm throwing in whistle sounds randomly exactly like they did! I'm glad you enjoyed what you did of this.
