No question that your trip to Nevada was a big success. The pictures are amazing from every angle. The Big Boy looks majestic in this desert like setting. The sights and sounds are wonderful. Another very fine trailer Dan. I'm sure the full length video will be amazing too.

Thanks so much Z! Yes big success indeed. I've still got one more decently lengthy video from time spent in Idaho and Wyoming filming the 4014 and then the final massive video will probably be at least 2.5 hours long which will be everything you've already seen plus some scenes throughout that I haven't released yet.

Another fascinating glimpse at American railways ..... miles from anywhere. Brilliant sound matching ! It is almost as if we were up there strung to a hang glider and hearing it.

Thank you for another tease video of content from your full video of Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 travels through five states on its Westward journey! The run through Sand Pass is a run through some barren Great Basin landscape. I like the way you add the sounds of the Big Boy to your drone video. (Posted 24 August 2024 at 2347 CDT.)

Thanks so much Thomas! I am so glad I recorded enough 4014 audio to be able to add it to the footage and make it sound accurate. It was a big deal to me to do that while I was out there.

Man....we're going to have to start calling you "Long Shot"! Only the military gets longer drone flights, and you're crowding in on them. More amazing work in some amazing country. There was a guy in a red shirt at 1:52 that may have gotten the best ground shot, but you ruled the air. At 3:23, there was a drone having a one-man dogfight, and then yours comes zipping by at 3:43. Keep it up Long Shot! 🤠👍

All thanks to my Dad for driving while I was flying! It went perfectly. Haha one man dog fight had me laughing good! It was pretty all over the place. Thanks so much Scotty!

Lovely; and apparently without conflict from other drones.

It seems funny to me that they would have concrete ties for the siding, and still store excess rolling stock there.
@TheRailfanDan4 ай бұрын
I agree that is a bit odd.
@dugldoo4 ай бұрын
You've clearly become the premier railfan videographer of the Northwest! BTW, what are those two (?) different kinds of short flat cars on the Sand Pass siding?
@espeescotty4 ай бұрын
Those cars in the siding are intermodal spine cars. Most are articulated 5-unit cars that carry truck trailers and or containers in a single level. They look to be stored out there at Sand Pass. There are 3-unit spine cars sets too.

Do you have any idea why they didn't pull the passenger cars this trip? ( They never tell me anything ) Thank you for your time Dan.
@TheRailfanDan4 ай бұрын
I had heard they opted to pull freight cars since 4014 was designed to pull freight. Trying to be prototypical which it still isn't very since it's modern cars but best they could do.

Tried to think how your Dad had helped, then I realized, he drove and you flew.🙂
