Wow! Bring her to Norfolk Southern rails for a tour please! Plenty of fans await!
@regularguy72662 жыл бұрын
Although we can dream like a foamer, there is extremely little to no chance 4014 will do a tour on Norfolk Southern. If it did, it would have to be a one-and-done deal between Union Pacific and NS, and 4014 would have to run in the western part of the system. It couldn't go even more east to a state like Pennsylvanis due to its immense size and weight. Even 3985, the precursor to 4014, when it did the Clinchfield Santa Train Special on CSX rails in Tenessee and Kentucky, had problems going that east. Luckily, Norfolk Southern reaches as far west as Missouri, although it would almost never make a deal with UP. But, if that sliver a possibility comes to realization, it would be the tour of the decade.

Amazing that thing could even move. More amazing is the fact the rail could support its 1.2 million pounds of sheer mass. I hung around the one at steam Town PA, I believe it's UP 4018. I was a conductor for CP rail some years ago, and did some moves and switching in there. It's a mind bogging piece of machinery.

Solution: add steam engine to every diesel/electric engine driven train.
@hezekiahvanfarthinghorniii80425 жыл бұрын
Theodore Novak unfortunately but quite necessarily in this day and age, it’s required to be there, as there is insufficient steam locomotive support along the route, and FRA requires one or the other.

Do they really need to put a diesel behind a locomotive that can pull an 80 ton frieght train by itself?
