Correction to the title. Second trip to California. Big Boy 4014 went to southern California in Oct 2019 on it's first trip after being brought back to life in the Cheyenne Steam shop🎉

I asked Ed that if he can bring 844 and 4014 all the way to Oakland and San Jose CA he said in the future he will !!! So that’s a go for us !!!

Actually, it did go to LA a few years ago if I recall correctly so it maybe more accurate to say that this is it's first visit to Northern California.

It was too hot for me, thanks for video. Hope they come back in spring when it is cooler. Saw Big Boy fly by Fernley Nv the next week.

Very nice. I was extremely fortunate to have seen #4014 and #844 in 2019, and while they were parked in the Ogden Station, it was nevertheless quite an experience to see them up close.

Why the diesel engine in the train? In Germany they run a lot of historical steam engines but they never use a diesel as backup. Isn't the 4014 reliable..?

They have a few uses for the diesel. It provides electricity to the other cars, provides dynamic breaking to take it easier on Big Boy’s brakes (they’re very expensive to replace) and in long runs it can provide some power to let Big Boy take it a bit easier.

actually she wasn't the most powerful in the world after she was made their was a class called the Yellowstone steam locomotives that were more powerful than the bigboy!
