Great find sourcing the reman brembos to save some money but you could have even done it for less with the motorcraft oem rotors at 50 ea on rock auto. I bought the ford performance kit new for about 1200, the solid rotors are holding up great and I track my car hard.

@jackholmes8105
@jackholmes8105 3 жыл бұрын
Pads and fluid are probably your best bet moving forward if you are planning to track. Also is the master cylinder the right size(the same size as the gt500s)? Braking distance vs thermal capacity are not always the same as well. Ie your old set up with aggressive pads(gloc r12s or something) will probably hold up longer than your new set up on street pads. All things being equal though the larger calibers and rotors though should be able to take more heat. Easiest way to reduce stopping distances are sticker tires. A good option in your sizes are probably rs4s, or the falken 615+s. 200tw tires are your friend. Hopefully this helps or at least provides some for thought, great looking bullit.
@ProjectBullitt
@ProjectBullitt 3 жыл бұрын
You’re exactly right, if I ever seriously track this thing I’ll go for some race pads and the GT500 master cylinder. However, I don’t have a track near me, (other than a quarter mile) so for now, this was a reasonable upgrade. (Better looks, better stopping distance) I appreciate the feedback.

I run the coolers on my Bullitt and I've done the big rotor set up but not the big calipers. The big calipers are out right now because they won't fit behind the stock wheels that at the moment I want to continue to run. I had to get a hold of a set of '11-14 GT caliper mounting brackets. I also run Hawk performance pads all around and I installed the ss brake lines some months back, both of which improved brake feel and response a lot. The big rotors are basically just cosmetic now since I'm not running the big calipers but I have a set of the calipers out in the garage (they were $120 for one and 130 for the other side, with the core charge) so someday when I finally break down and get newer style FR500 wheels, I'll complete the upgrade. Great videos you've posted, though you're taking your Bullitt way further than I've done with mine but I've gotten some good info from you. Did the jacking rails last weekend.
@ProjectBullitt
@ProjectBullitt 3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I could help! I have never heard of what you described, but that should help you stop better. The further the caliber is away from the center of rotation, the more leverage/stopping power it will have.

@@ProjectBullitt yea I knew you could go to the performance pack calipers but I don't need that much more cause my build is going to be for more drifting not fast. So my next upgrade is swapping the rear setup for the gt500 setup but it will be dual caliper for the hydro brake.

First off let me thank you for great info on the 08 Bullitt. Very informative and easy to understand. Wondering how the brakes have been holding up and if you have had them on a track to test the heating properties? I just bought a 1 owner 2009 Bullitt (#6427) with an Edelbrock blower. Took it to Auto Club Speedway last Saturday and smoked the OEM brakes. Got to 500'. Porterfield street pads. I'm considering doing your upgrade. Not seeing the calipers you chose on Rock Auto. Do you know if they are still available? Thanks again.
@ProjectBullitt
@ProjectBullitt Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! No track time, and I don’t believe the pads I chose would hold up on the track. I would choose track pads and some high quality slotted rotors if you plan to track it a lot. It looks like there are some silver Power Stops available on rock auto as of right now. I only saw the left front caliper from the brand I ordered. Make sure you look at parts for the GT500!

@ProjectBullitt
@ProjectBullitt Жыл бұрын
Well, it has to do with the offset of the wheel (where the back center of the wheel meets the wheel hub vs where the outer edges of the rim are). You should be able to look that up but I don’t know off the top of my head. And yes, this is the GT500 set up!
