Find out how much a big brake kit actually reduces stopping distance. Also learn how to install and adjust coilovers, how to properly powder coat your calipers, and how to ceramic coat your vehicle like a professional detailer.
Check out AvalonKing's DIY ceramic coating kit at avl.kg/foureyesas9
I do stand behind this product as I'll be using it on the Viper next. I recommend the 2 kit option so you can also coat the plastics, windows, and wheels.
You can find my socials and get in contact with me through my Tazet profile:

Really enjoyed the video. However, there are a few things I would like to add. Larger brakes don’t necessarily improve brake distances. The stock brakes are more than enough to block the wheels (at higher blocking pressures than the performance brakes of course). The ABS takes care of the rest, ensuring the wheel slip is at an optimum for deceleration. As you mentioned in the end, the main benefit is resistance to fading when driving on the race track. It would’ve been interesting to see the difference between stock and modified doing an adaption of the „Auto Motor Sport“ brake distance test, where the vehicle is braked from a certain speed 10 times in direct succession. The last few tests usually show worse performance as the brakes are beginning to be heat soaked. This would’ve been a quantifiable way of testing the new brakes performance when subjected to higher loads. The first thing I thought when you mentioned you will also be installing coil overs, it that it would be interesting to see what the suspension changes alone do to the brake distance. Stiffer springs and lower Center of Gravity will result in far less pitching and therefore a more constant normal force on all tires. This will usually result in a more constant deceleration during the initial pitching phase and will improve the brake distance. I would even go as far as saying that this was the main reason for the improved brake distances with the new setup. Changing the brakes obviously had a positive influence on the performance, but without a dedicated tuning of the ABS for the new tires and brakes, no significant performance increases can be expected. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the production quality. Keep up the good work.

Very cool test. Tires will make a huge difference for sure, but recommendations: Guarantee you'll see a vastly significant difference in stopping distance if you flogged your brakes from 60mph-10-60-10 6 or 7 times before the actual 70-0 test, theyll definitely come to life with some real heat. Another thing that'd let you squeeze as much out of em as possible is a non-power/manual master cylinder with a bore size spec-ed specifically to your caliper piston sizes. Highly recommend a manual master if road course/autocross is your motorsport of choice, the pedal feel is dead consistent ALL the time.
@benkromphardt1916
@benkromphardt1916 6 ай бұрын
^^ Well stated! Remember folks, big brake kits themselves do not change braking distance. Changing the pad or rotor materials or tires will make a difference. The only think a big brake kit will change is resistance to fade. And, brake cooling air ducting will help this a lot too (and can be a lot cheaper!). If you want to go bigger though, make sure your master cylinder is up to the job!
@rustysausage69
@rustysausage69 6 ай бұрын
@@benkromphardt1916 Depends on era but yup with modern cars after roughly 1990 you'll expect to see a marginal change in distance like this test but ONLY when everything works in unison, modern stuff is engineered pretty well in the brakes department. NOW.. when you're trying to track 1960s cars like the chevelle I have, a 315 tire and 14" wilwoods at all 4 corners makes LIGHTYEARS of a difference over stock brakes.

Love the production of this and the extra attention to detail. Most of the wrenching i already knew, but the math and science backing it up is super nice viewer material. Keep up the great work, cheers from Denmark!

This is the single best sponsor segment I've ever seen in all my years on KZbin. Especially the parts on your research were incredibly cool! Take that as a huge compliment.

Your documentation of your 197 build was my inspiration before I wrecked my 197 last year (typical Mustang driver, right?). Maybe I will someday get my hands on another and can start over, but keep doing what you’re doing. Easily the best build series on YT. The effort and thoroughness is evident!

You are doing all the things that I have been wanting to do to my 2012 Mustang GT. I literally just started doing my own paint correction after watching tons of videos. The Kona Blue looks so much better now after over a decade of abuse. After ceramic coating I'm installing the Ford Performance Handling pack. Was just going to get some slotted discs and new pads since I have the Brembo package but after seeing the GT500 upgrade in this video I may go that route. Looking forward to more Viper content as well. My 2000 ACR is getting jealous of the attention the Mustang is getting lately.

Dude, I've been rewatching your videos on and off for the last few couple months - and have rewatched this video 3 times already, that's how good, informative and enjoyable your videos are! I have to say, between you and 337speed, another MONSTER of a cartuber with fantastic and super insightful vids, I just can't choose one over the other! You guys NEED to join forces and do a collab! Pretty please, with sugar on top!

The editing on this video is subtle but really enhances the viewing experience, like highlighting the solution for your calculations or having the stiffness appear as a dial when setting your damper were small but great additions

Reading some comments I just realized you are just approaching quarter million subs, I thought you were well over a mil at least. Pretty sure I've watched since the first video and the video quality has always been better than most TV shows. Love the car and all the effort into the build/editing. s197 has always been my favorite mustang and these videos make me want to build one up myself!

Pretty cool to binge watch this transformation. I have a M122 blown S197 and a Coyote swapped SN95. Both have their merits, their faults and both chock full of personality differences. Keep up the great work.
