I was done when my Win 10 machine crashed when I tried to uninstall Copilot, which was tied to the file system when it was not before, never mind Recall, telemetry, etc. Been on Linux Mint for a couple months now.

In my case, it’s just the processor model. My system has TPM 2.0 as well as secure boot. The computer was from 2019 which means it shipped with Windows 10 from new. I have used it unsupported before.

MS came to the realization that many people are finding alternatives that actually work better for them. My main driver has been Linux for almost 15 years and I've saved quite a few other folks from Windows servitude over the years, while letting them continue to use hardware that isn't quite in its prime. Combat planned obsolescence.

Absolutely. Could not agree more. I've used Linux for at least 15 years now and never stop trying to win converts. I feel sorry for people who are still using Windows, I really do.

I believe that SSE 4.2 is still required to install Windows 11 24H2.

I disagree. It's not that they are allowing this. It has been known for a long time that manual updates can be done. I believe this is Microsoft saying that if anyone updates Windows11 manually they are on their own and Microsoft is not responsible.

Don't they also say that an installation of Win 11 on unsupported hardware will not receive security updates? Then what is the point of allowing the installation if a week later, it is out of date? Less than a year to go on Win 10 support, and it's still more popular than Win 11... Why are we getting all excited about an OS that most people don't even like, while Microsoft continues to play its silly games? They don't deserve the attention until they actually do something real. These non-committal increments are wearing me out... It's like Microsoft is begging us to move on to another OS! Gotta say, Linux Mint is looking pretty good for the average user, right about now. 🤷‍♂

I just change windows 10 for windows 11 a week ago, I got the best hardware in my gaming computer but guess what I'm scared like when I change for windows 7 I love in the seventh but no more support, So I have to follow rules, I'm just trying a week and let me tell you, Windows 11 ❤ I love it.

On windows 11 PRO You are able to customize the way you want just search for info online and you see! I have the same way that I have windows 7- 10 Taskbar I move the way I want icons background whatever you think you'll be able to make it work on windows 11.

I tried your registry modification a while ago and it worked flawlessly. However, I borked the Windows 11 installation trying to set up a dual boot, and when I went to reinstall it (same computer with the same registry edits) I found I can no longer complete the install process. It appears that Microsoft has changed something to prevent this workaround.

The entire point of backing off the hardware requirements is because Microsoft knows they have a Windows XP / Windows 7 situation on their hands. There are going to be millions of unpatched Windows 10 PCs when they cut support because people aren't about to replace a perfectly good computer for Windows 11 and Microsoft will get blamed for the inevitable botnets and malware infestations. In short, I fully expect Windows 11 to auto-update just fine on older, "unsupported" hardware. Otherwise, they will end up in the exact same situation, but with Windows 11 instead of 10. I doubt the scare tactics work any better, and it would be nice if they would knock it off and admit defeat on this one. So far, the only update I would have to manually install is 24H2, and honestly, I'm kind of glad that one isn't being forced at the moment. Also, 24H2 did not apply a watermark on my i5-6500 testbed, so it will be interesting to see if they add that in an update.

Hello, I currently have version Windows 11 22H2 installed, but in the settings for automatic update it does not offer me the option to upgrade to the new version 24H2, so I am interested in how to make an automatic upgrader from version 22H2 to the latest version 24H2

I'll be installing Linux on my existing computer and activating a Mini Mac that I recently bought. NOT INSTALLING WINDOWS 11. I wonder if they realize they've shot themselves in the foot yet. 🤔 Windows RIP.
