I’m betting on the D11 before I’m even 5 seconds into this video. The 11 is likely geared lower, probably still weighs as much or more all of those other pieces of equipment combined, plus it has steel grouser tracks to dig in where the rubber tires and rubber tracks don’t come close to grabbing the traction those would need to even hold the 11. Pretty cool though to put it in perspective, with the video!

@johnertel29573 жыл бұрын
@@michaelanderson7715 I disagree, if the D11 only had to hold the brakes on and hold the tractors from moving it, gearing would play no role. However, the D11 pulled all four pieces of equipment, and it needs to be geared low enough not to stall out, with all that weight and traction. So, I beg to differ sir, . . . gearing has some relevance.

@@DT-ge8gd 1. I chose weight as the comparison in contextual reference to you saying 'big Cat', and power obviously because you referenced that. 2. I'm aware of the role traction plays, it was not necessary to mention it for the point I was making. 3. Regardless of which is more relevant (weight or traction), stating weight is more relevant than power is correct, and the _only_ point I was making in the context of what you said. Your point is superfluous to that. 4. Fair enough if you were 'just noting the power', in context you can surely see though that it can be interpreted as thinking power was the deciding factor.

I used to run one in fort dodge iowa twenty-some years ago they are very very powerful we got one stuck in the mud and it took 4 weeks $10,000 worth of railroad tie and cable to pull it out the blade is 1 and 1/2 Suburbans wide and about 10 ft tail
@jamesstreet2282 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah. They were digging a canal down in Mississippi and got a D11 stuck. It took 4 of them to pull the stuck one out. They had the huge winches hooked up but it just slid all 4 right along the ground. Then they lowered the blades and picked the front ends up and got the tracks spinning and dug out a bank behind the dozers for the tracks to brace against then hooked up the cables and started winching. I swear the power of the huge winches was lifting up on the front of the D11's. That was some serious torque. But slowly the stuck D11 started to move and about 45 minutes later it was crawling out in it's own traction. That was the most impressive display of power I have ever seen.

That d11 has a cat C32 engine, thats a 32.liter v12, that case 4 wheel drive alone has just a suped up 12 liter, assuming its the 689 some horse power one, isn't that amazing? They don't put very big engines in farm machi ery for some reason, they seem to think that running those tiny engines at high RPM is the way to go, imagine how efficient machinery could be if you put more like a 15 or 18 liter in it and ran it at 1200 RPM or less for tillage.

Don't forget the insane amount of torque in that C32, I'm guessing 2,000-3,000 lbs-ft?
