Nice review, thanks. PS: best voice on youtube. Ever considered narrating audiobooks?

Nice to see LCDX continue to get some love! I got mine last year (2021 version) and I simply adore them. I mostly save them for the weekends and daily drive an HD580 during the week.

As a fan of these, man, they're made for EQ. They're practically a tonal blank slate for pretty much any sound signature you could want.

Very nice review. I've owned the OG LCD X's since 2015 and I just sent my pair to Audeze to have them updated to 2021 drivers and pads. Look forward to getting them back. Also own HD 800's. I executed the SDR mod on them which effectively made them HD 800 S's. You should consider doing that with your pair as it does a nice job with bringing down the 6k hz peak which is actually for the most part a frame resonance rather than a result of the diffuse field tuning. Also bought a cheap $60 balanced cable from a guy in Vietnam that I found on Ebay. Considering Sennheiser wants $300 for their balanced, seemed like a real bargain, especially since all balanced cable sound exactly alike.

Thanks! Ehh I'm actually not bothered by the HD800's extra treble so I'm ok. But I def can't deny that the HD800s are an extra step above in imaging and detail than the HD800

I have the 2018 version of the LCD-X. Still the kings of my collection. Don't skimp on a quality amp! You're paying enough to justify one.

Great review. I am curious on what you think of vocals overall on the x's. I heard from multiple people that the tuning made plenty of vocals sound nasily and that using Audeze's eq drivers sorted out a lot the mid-range issues that people experienced using the x's. I've always been hesitant on getting the x's out of fear of experiencing those timberal qwerks within the mid-range.

Thanks! Nah I'd say vocals are pretty good but not fantastic. Still wouldn't be enough to dissuade me UNLESS you're looking for a HP that does vocals best out of anything.

Some Dekoni earpads lift up midrange quite a lot. Check out their graphics for each model.

Nice review. I would disagree regarding width. These are not narrow but they are not wider than HD800S. Bass is super clean and tactile but it does roll off. It is in terms of extension comparable to the HD800S which tbh by no means sound bass light to me. Vocals and mids are recessed. They are hefty but they've never felt uncomfortable though.

Can you review one of the old Sony headphones which seemed to maybe be inspirations for the HD800? Such as the Sony Qualia 010, Sony MDR-SA5000, Sony MDR-SA3000? Also could you review the ES Lab ES-R10?

@@chuckolatte600 do u really think HD800 have better/wider stageing than HD800S? i dont think so. its just how the sound in the space are placed in the FR. in my test it has the same ish stageing. the placement of the sounds are just diffrent.

Hi , greetings from Toronto ☕️ I got recommended this video by another LCDX (21 Creators Edition)user ..and am very interested in getting the best sound ..as this may be my last headphones for a while. So far they’re my GoTo for film scores and EDM ..vocals are average..unless the recording is on point. I lowered my clamp force with the Carbon Fiber head band ..as for cable I run the Hart cable. My amp Bryston BHA-1 headphone amp. DAC new Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC . Great video 👍

Do you just not believe in the Harmon target or anything? Look up the frequency response, there’s a huge dip in the upper mids (I think between 3-6k) that most hi-Fi headphones would boost.

Hello guys! I am looking to buy new headphones. I currently have X2HR with oratory EQ which are sufficient, but I am looking for something new, mainly I would like something with best detail and technicalities in general. Currently I had a look at HE400SE which are 130 euros, Sundaras which are 350 euros, and HD 600 which are 330 euros. Also I am used to the wide soundstage which X2HRs provide. I am not worried about the tuning since I am probably gonna run oratory's. Also I do not own an amp or a dac, so a suggestion for that is also welcome. My budget is upwards 400 euros (not including amp or dac) Different recommendations are also welcome, however I am looking only for open backs. tl;dr: Looking for new open-back headphones with great detail and technicalities, currently considering HE400SE, Sundara, and HD 600. Budget is upwards of €400 (not including amp/DAC). Prioritize wide soundstage and open to other recommendations.

How do these compare to the zmf auteur classics in a few words?
@chuckolatte6008 ай бұрын
These have better, more detailed bass. The Auteurs offer a better representation of mids. They're pretty similar in highs. Don't have the Auteurs in house anymore so that's all I can recall haha
