love the technical videos that bridge coaching and fitting

Ian... I felt that personally 😂 "they need to worry about the ball going forward not going back"

Love the content guys, keep it coming! I've been going to club champion for 4 years and always keep up with your videos so we can make the best choices for my game. It's so important to match wedges to your game, and to also match technique to the wedge design. Shallow faded wedge shots are how I play the game. Great stuff fellas... Are you guys gonna do a turf interaction video? 3:36 Outdoors?

I love how comprehensive this video is. Definitely learned a lot from this - thanks Ian and Mikey!!

I'd love to see a wedge shaft review. Very interested in the Axiom and BGT RedZne shafts. Wondering if they're really worth the cost.

Would love to see a "best wedges" video soon (mainly because I'm looking at new ones ATM and guidance from the best in the biz would be appreciated)

Excellent stuff gents!!!! Will be in this week for a fit for new 10s😊

I tend to be very shallow with a lot of shaft lean. Great for flighting in wedges and consistent carry, not great for spin. But if I can fly it to where I want and get it to stop somewhere around where it landed, thats good enough for me.
@jim60631Ай бұрын
Open the face a little at address, grip it, do nothing else. Watch spin go up, this is actually an ideal technique. Also, make sure ball position isn't too back.
@jackrich6336Ай бұрын
Shallow with a lot of shaft lean is how Zach Johnson won the masters. Predictable low spin is how you score. Really only need high spin wedge shots occasionally for tricky pins

Wow. Lots to consider. I don’t back spin the ball only front spin when it lands. There are sometimes I do wish I had it. Currently playing Mizunos S23’s 45,50,54,56

Love the 12.D grind from Vokey. Think its the standard grind on TM wedges and C grind for callaway. How easy isit to bend 56 to 60? And besides bounce what will it change? 08.M seems to low for the courses I play and my avg technique. Does a 10.M or 10.D make any sense? Is an 0.8m comparable to a 08.d acheived by bending down loft of a 12.D?

What I share here is totally mirroring this video and absolutely agree. It is THE game changer. Hopefully it reaffirms things for one or two people reading this to get fitted for a wedge NOW! My comments have nothing to do with me saying hey look how good I am. Just sharing exactly what they're saying is literally happening in my wedge game. I play a links track that in it's prime summer condition has firm tight fairways and most green surrounds are lightish rough. I got a 58 degree Cleveland zipcore with heel grind and the lowest bounce available: 6 degrees. Love it. I have a shallow attack angle and I'm a leading edge wedge player so don't use bounce as a way to play most shots. This thing is a weapon around the greens. Play it off of back foot and turn it into a 50 degree wedge and hit low checkers, open it up and it's 65 and hit spinners with loft. Play it regular and hit 85-90 yds with loads of backspin if needed. Opening it up I can still hit flops off of tight lies cuz of the heel grind. Finding the right wedge setup for your game `to me is one of the most important fittings you can do. No other club in your bag offers the shot options that a wedge does. How many different types of shots, honestly, do you try and hit with your 7 iron? As a guy hitting only 7-9 greens a day I rely on my wedge game and need more than just a shot or two around the greens. I play to a 5 cap because of my wedges. My irons suck, really. Put a wedge in my hands and my confidence soars. And this is the takeaway: when you have a properly fitted wedge built for your turf conditions it changes your entire scoring ability. Sorry for rambling but get fitted!

The ball is the most important part for sure. I always think its funny in my simulator when guys will hit a crappy two piece ball and it launches and hits my roof. The Titleist RCT ball hits the middle of the screen....it is the best way to show the difference in ball performance. Great video.

Hi guys, great video. Is it possible you can go into a bit more detailed about how you swing a wedge to get more spin.

Ian,visually, your swing seems so efficient. So much speed and spin and you look like you’re swinging slo mo
@shawntaylor7442Ай бұрын
I struggle with distance on full wedge shots. Been clubbing up and using more of a ¾ swing. Hit all my clubs so high, not ideal for wedges

What about with a driver ? I recently found out my driver has less then 1000 rpm of spin. Any suggestion how to fix that?

Depends what’s causing it, could be a number of things.

I spin Bridgestone E9's back. I'd like to hear about how to reduce spin as well.
@davead6578Ай бұрын
Matte finishes cause the ball surface to retain water. You lose distance and spin.

I’ve always heard water increases spin.

Ian, brother, how could you forget #6, which should be #1: Clean groves! So many players fail to clean their groves, especially on wedges and irons.
