Canada is the only country that matters in hockey. Americans may be thinking much of themselves with NHL and everything, but they're always just a bump on the road, on par with some Sweden and the likes. Definitely top tier, but not THE top. Canada is the only win that matters, and if we meet in quarterfinals or semi, then nobody cares much about the finals because that's our finals.

Мне 63 года.Во времена СССР ,когда мы были молодые , всей семьей смотрели матчи СССР - Канада.Тогда хоккей был суперпопулярный.В каждом дворе были корты ,мальчишки играли в хоккей . Наши хоккеисты были национальными героями ,а из канадских помню Бобби Халла и Уйна Гретцки. Печальная новость недавно была , что умер Бобби Халл .Царство ему небесное .

I must say it's amazing to see professional hockey match in Russia. Thank you for that! I don't really follow hockey. But I know that this is the old Torpedo arena. It seats 5,500 spectators. They are now building a new arena for 12,000 spectators. Next to a large football stadium. They don't have much left. In about a year, Torpedo will play in a new arena.

Went once to NHL game in Toronto...got ticket from work(370cdn😱) Last year I went to see game of Polish hockey game...only 5 cdn for ticket....but not same level like NHL...lol Always I wanted to visit Russia. Если с детства закалять, то не заболеешь. До -20 хожу с растегнутым воротником. Шарф и шапку с детства не люблю носить. Если холоднее, то ворот застегиваю и капюшон затягиваю.

Before the match, a video was shown about a native of Nizhny Novgorod pilot Valery Chkalov. He was the first in the world who fly over the North Pole from Moscow to Vancouver in 1937. You could see a big monument to him near the Kremlin on the high banks of the Volga. The monument stands at the beginning of the most beautiful stairs in Russia called by his name (it was shown in the video too). Chkalov would have turned 120 this year.

I am a big fan of the KHL. When you said Moscow was there I got excited as my favorite team is in Moscow CSKA. But no it's Dynamo. Still, KHL is the best hockey outside of Canada.

I must say I also love Russian anthem. It is really beautiful anthem full of pride of great natrion which put great sacrifice for the peace in the world. I'm ashamed that our politicians in Czech right now ignoring the fact, that if it wouldn't be russian sacrifices during WWII my country would not exist and no Czech would live today. I'm not saying that I agree with how Russia came and occupied our country afterwards, but ignoring fact, that millions of Russians died to turn the outcome of WWII should never be forgoten. Great anthem, I'm playing it from time to time as song of inspiration.

It's stupid to be offended by history. Unfortunately, during the Second World War, the Czech Republic was on the side of the Nazis and produced half of the weapons of the Third Reich. Therefore, the so-called occupation was part of the outcome of the war: the victorious USA occupied half of Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Greece, and the victorious USSR occupied Eastern Europe. And instead of destroying the Czech statehood, the USSR preserved your country and autonomy! But thank you for your kind words about the anthem. We love the Czech Republic and Prague too!
