When they drop the ev purchase credit all the legacy makes cannot make hybrids at a profit and they cant make evs either so tesla will have 100% of the market and the cheaper models are already coming in 2025 to keep the average sales price the same.

Gary Black does not understand that Tesla’s price cuts were not to gain market share. The cuts were to keep factories running at high efficiency and to keep their supply chains healthy. It was also done to put stress on their competitors. These cuts are likely the main reason that so many competitors have canceled their EV expansion plans.

If tax credits are eliminated for 10 years it wouldn't take that long to realize you should be bullish on that fact. In 2 years the Wallstreet will have priced that in already, so 2 years is actually a long enough term to realize that tesla does not need the credits.

I could see 500 by the time the first robotaxi rides take place but that isn't justified at the moment We are already at a 100PE ratio so 500 would be very overextended for the current financial state. Could be justified 1-2 years from now. Imo, I'm trimming my position 10-15% if we hit $400 before EOY

Agree with Gary for most part. Ev penetration is around 10% in USA, which is still low on adoption curve. Slow growth now by taking incentives away will defer early adopters. A move like this would make more sense when you have +30% ev adoption since the adoption curve should be way steeper (unstoppable) then. Sure FSD will print money. But when? 2027, 2028, 2030? I hope FSD has kicked in BEFORE they remove the credit. Bullish long term, but carefully bullish short term.

Yeah Gary, if you look on the surface of things is 100% correct... Short term. If the EV tax credits go away then for the consumer buying a Tesla will be more expensive relative to a nice vehicle. That's just a fact. If they are more expensive upfront relative to an ice vehicle, then they will be less likely to be selected by the consumer, which means that demand will go down for them. That's just a fact. Temporarily.. Unless Tesla finds a way to buffer it. The loss in pricing power created by the EV tax credit then they will experience lower sales after the credit is taken away. There's no credible logic to argue against this fact. There is also no credible logic to argue against the fact that Wall Street will correctly recognize this and adjust its targets just as Gary mentioned and the stock price will fall. Temporarily. However, we experienced in this last quarter A significant reduction in cost of goods sold on the part of Tesla and we've heard the possibility of an additional 15% in savings being potentially realized. We don't know what the time frame of this being, but there's a good bet that a large chunk of that 15% in savings will come, not from Tesla figuring out innovative ways to optimize the existing vehicles, but rather as implementing their best optimizations across their entire line. For example, integrating advantages of the Cyber truck into new models or refined models of the existing models. No, the real savings primarily comes from the battery pack. Which major cost element is the elements raw materials used in the battery chemistry which have come down dramatically and will continue to come down. So let's look at the math. Let's assume Tesla is able to eke out 10% cost reduction in goods sold due to the reduction in the price of battery materials alone. Keep in mind as well that they had a breakthrough with the dry battery. Cathode processing were able to significantly ramp up production which also reduces costs over time with scale. That's going to be fully realized in 2025. So again, let's just say we get our 10% reduction applicable to almost all models over the next year if the EV tax credit is rolled back at the beginning of Trump's term The shift in demand from the virtual price increase of the vehicles will be experienced by some consumers who buy early in the year, but as those 10% savings impact cost of goods sold, Tesla will be able to absorb some percent in reduced margins if it wishes... Further, the robotaxi will be much cheaper to produce than any other vehicle at scale providing even more margin that could be utilized to enable savings, but more importantly, because Robotaxi will likely be sold in a fleet model in massive numbers, the need for personal subsidies will essentially disappear. This will especially be true. Its legacy Auto will still be stuck producing mostly ice cars and be without any automation whatsoever unless they partner with Tesla or some other provider like waymo. The further blow is if tax credits for fossil fuels are also removed then owning ice becomes even more expensive & TCO for ice will likely exceed every right out the gate... This suppression of I've car demand would give advantage to Tesla with its rapidly reducing cigs advantage used as leverage to beat legacy Auto on price yet again. Ultimately, it does look like there's going to be some small impact on demand and margins if the tax credit is suddenly removed at the beginning of next year. If on the other hand, the administration takes some time to implement this. I'd say only about a year would be needed then the impact on Tesla would be quite negligible is by that time it will be ramping into volume production on the robotaxi which will single-handedly be its most profitable vehicle as well as its most high volume vehicle making any need for a tax credit completely moot.

Human drivers have an advantage because our eyes are inside the car, so they don’t get covered in crud. My winter FSD experience is not good. Cameras get covered with crud and FSD wants me to take over. Or, it tries to drive in the ditch. This winter will be a new test with new versions of FSD, but I don’t see how FSD can work when its cameras are covered with crud.
