I was able to strip out OVER 300KG from a fiat coupe 20vt, even adding much bigger turbo, exhaust mainfold and intercooler. But was needed to cut some steel sheet, some replaced with aluminium sheet, some not. I removed sunroof, a/c and inside blower, headlights, glass windows except winshield, EVEN some sound proof black substance which cover the metal shell at interior (7kg) and some wires (3.2kg)

I did this at 11.30 start on my mk4 my neighbours loved me on my drive next step for mine is cutting away metal I don't need even my wipers are just a frame a guy who specialises in lightweight Porsches had the idea of putting holes in all panels that structurally worked and where possible he got an old 911 under 700kg

Good start on the weight savings but the next step should be the doors. Having taken the doors of my Mk1 Clio I've realised there's probably a good 20kg in each one!! So a Mk5 golf doors must have some serious weight! With plexan windows, you're probably losing 60kg!! And that's before you get to the Tailgate and Bonnet!!

ps: Don't you thing was easyer to throw away that GARBAGE TURBO instead of such a huge work for lightening? That turbo is the HUUUUUUGE drawback of that engine, being sooooo restrictive and tiny because they need STELLAR EGT to work with those garbage caps from exhaust ("emission controll" bullshit)
