Nintendo has missed the holiday. Ps5 sales will explode and believe it or not xbox sales will increase too. This action will relegate super Nintendo switch to an assessory. Is this some kind of joke I don’t get. A special kind of Nintendo joke? Even on low-spec hardware like T239 that the Switch 2 will for certain use producing that much games would be impossible, even if you don’t focus on graphical fidelity. Botw has simplified graphics but very complex mechanics for example that takes a long time to iron out.

It makes absolutely ZERO sense to have any sort of lengthy marketing campaign for new hardware. Apple announces their new phones on a Monday then release them that same Friday. Marketing for a movie or even a video game makes sense because upper trying to sell a story but a console is not something you’re supposed to keep the specs secret. Everything about a device is supposed to be revealed along with the entire. Hype completely dies when you have to wait for no reason.

Naw, you need at least a few months to market a console. You make the false assumption that the only reason a marketing timeframe would be long is because you’re trying to keep something secret, but that’s just not true at all; video game consoles are marketed towards the masses, not just people who are obsessed with video games and watch video game news KZbinrs. It takes a long time to build up public awareness for a product, so you announce it and then spend the next few months slowly building hype. I can almost guarantee that if a company were to announce a console and then start selling it a week later, that consoles launch would be an absolute failure.

Also, the lifecycle of people using their phones are practically yearly as well (I make my phone last as long as possible), so there's already hype anticipation. Game Consoles have 5 to 7 year life cycles and it is harder for convincing the mass consumers WHY they should buy the new one at a particular time. People like me and you? No problem, but you cannot have major inventory collecting dust if no one else is seeking it out.

@@bk6555 exactly, iPhones are something consumers have been trained to expect yearly, but you can’t really train a consumer to expect a new console when they come every 6-7 years haha. They want to push a lot of units in a short amount of time, because then those purchasers will be buying new video games for the console for longer. That, and if you get your main install base quickly, you can better plan for the future of your console.

By March 2025, we could get a new Mario Kart game or Prime 4, Legends: Z-A or Xenoblade X could launch with the Switch 2, which will probably be before the SMB 40th anniversary. Mario Kart could launch with 32 tracks and no crossover characters and get DLC packs adding crossover characters and double up the tracks to 48. It’s weird that the Blue Falcon is in the series but Captain Falcon isn’t. So why don’t they come in form of the DLC? I want them to ditch the metal characters, Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario, Peachette, the Blooper Item and Coin Item, make the Koopalings alts for Bowser Jr., the baby characters alt’s for each other, Dry Bowser an alt for Bowser, bring the Fake Item Box, Mega Mushroom, Pow Block, Super Leaf and the Ice Flower back, add commentary as the Arcade GP series has it, bring Mission Mode back as it was supposed to return in Wii and add Professor E. Gadd since he was going to be in DS. By March 2026, we could get a new 3D Kirby game, possibly a Sequel to Forgotten Land. We could get to see playable Elfilin and Clawroline for the first time and they could bring back the Dream Palace Allies as well. Halfway through 2026, we could get Splatoon 4 and by the end of the year, we could get Super Smash Bros. 6 and hopefully they’ll ditch World of Light, bring Subspace Emissary back and update the movesets of some characters. We could get Super Mario Maker 3, Luigi’s Mansion 4 and a successor to Super Mario Party Jamboree by 2027 as it’s been 5 years since we had Super Mario Maker 2 and Luigi’s Mansion 3. They could add a Mario Wonder game style to Super Mario Maker 3 so 3D World isn’t just the extra game style and they could bring the Amiibo costumes and the Weird Mushroom back, for Luigi’s Mansion 4, the game could be in an Airbnb and we might get to see Luigi save Daisy for the first time in the series and for the successor to Jamboree, everyone from the previous Mario Party entries could return like how everyone returned for Smash Ultimate. By 2028, we could get a successor to Paper Mario: The Origami King as the TTYD remake came out this year. So why not another one in the next 4 years? I hope the console sells well. I probably won’t get it day one, or maybe not at all. I might wait for Smash 6 to be announced and then get the console with Mario Kart and get other games later on.

@stephkm3655 The Switch is not a high-performance device. Stop with the BS. Even the DS XL sold at $200 which was actually expensive. Phones can do a hell of a lot more than a Switch. Can you use your Switch for work, or plug it into your PC to set up programs, or use it for video editing? Can you use the Switch for AI and software and programming? I can go on all day with the massive features cellphones have. That is the stupidest comparison I have ever seen as of yet. Secondly, no one pays cash for a Cellphone, they pay a monthly installment. Third, the average person keeps their cellphones till they die and need to be replaced. Being portable doesn't mean shit. Portable handhelds go as far as the OG Gameboy. The average Switch gamer is playing on docked mode, not handheld anyway. And lastly, stop talking like if Nintendo is doing something new here. We have more handheld devices from Nintendo than any other company. Soon, you will say that the Switch 3 is ok at $650. The Switch 1 at $300 was already expensive.

The size of the screen protector has me a abit concerned; making me think that it will have some big bezels. If it was bezel less; then it wouldn't be that much bigger than the Switch 1, but as it stands the difference looks quite huge. Also, really tired of these kind of cases, that you have to take the console out of them to play on the go. I rather have a snap on case (like the Switch lite one) that is minimal and lets you play while the console is in it; at least making it more on the go friendly. An 8 inch tablet plus a case; is way to bulky.

I don’t think so. Nintendo has 127 million annual switch Nintendo account logins. They have a very strong fan base this time around, whereas the Wii had a very gimmick based, largely casual fan base and Nintendo dropped the ball on marketing what the WiiU was. I think it’s possible the switch 2 is close to level of the success of the switch when it’s all said and done. But, there’s no telling for sure.
