"I guess I should read the instructions" Man-card revoked 🤣 Another nice video. I hope your customers appreciate how rare it is to find detail oriented and conciseness service companies. One minor nit to pick - when writing notes to future you inside the equipment, if you can write on a vertical space less dirt tends to accumulate and your writing will be visible longer. That unit on the roof had a nice vertical panel on the inside that would be perfect for those notes. It may not be dirty enough in CA to make that much of a difference - maybe in Palm Springs with that insane desert dust. Still love your videos even though I will never do this work, I find it fascinating and appreciate you sharing!

I'm actually more worried that he _hasn't_ read the manual yet. I don't know, but whenever I get some new toy, I read the manual _to fuck and back_ - even if only to find out what new cool things it has that the previous one didn't. Laugh if you want (the man-card thing :D), but I'm _so_ not above reading the manuals after fucking up a setup because I _didn't_ read the manual, and it turned out that it _had_ something new to teach me. :D

You should sell branded six-sided dice. That way you can say "merch and dice" for extra Triggering Power! LOL Nice of the client to opt for new instead of slapping Band Aids on a failing unit. I can understand _why_ businesses choose to do only what they need to do to get by, especially in the Voldemort Disease Era, but that unit was probably going to cost more to coax a few more months' life out of it that it cost to replace. I think the client is seeing their version of the Big Picture.

About covid, I think those sneezes are just for a dusty enviroment since these rooftops carry pretty much dust. Its important to also not to freak out and think the smallest thing are covid. If you are working and get sneezes, sense how you are in a different environment. If the sneezes disappear, then its not covid. Same with coughing. Very important to exclude other causes before jumping on the covid. Another example: You work in a environment that start getting smokey, and start coughing. Of course its not covid, as soon as you move out of the smoke, coughing will disappear.

I have earlier serviced ultra deep freezers in 30 Years and get rashes by seeing those fan motors. They was named Smith, but had earlier another name. Never seen so many frozen shafts on any other motors up in the years. On those units, it was just one to cope with a hot condenser on the rear part of the units. If the customers did not clean the condenser, they dropped dead inside 2 years. The models back 40 years used a single end sleeve bearing made by GE. Those hard working cast iron GE motors stayed alive a long time😬even oil plug on + 45 years old. Later RMR same looking with a pretty decreased quality. I lost many weekends to hurry out inside 2 hours to save valuable products in the freezers. The tube axial type used in the latest 15 years was a dream, they never let you down. Great to see your videos and the good work

It wouldn't surprise me if the corporate offices and facilities guys for some of these big chains have deals in place where they commit to buying all their new-build or replacement refrigeration (and probably other kit like HVAC or exhaust fans or cooking equipment or whatever else) for the entire chain through one supplier in return for a discount from that supplier.

I often shout out a disclaimer every time I have a coughing fit at work: "It's not the 'Rona, it's breathing in hot humid air from my mask in a restaurant set at 80 degrees." I actually had to program the thermostat to an 80-deg. max because they used to crank it up to 90. "It's not fair that I should be cold," says the Manager, and the District Manager agrees that one single person should not have to wear a store-branded sweatshirt if she's cold; instead literally everyone else must sweat profusely and have dizzy spells around 5 fryers, a convection oven, and 5 hot food holding units. I can't want for an incident to happen to me, since our incident reports ask "What could you have done to prevent the injury?" Luckily, so far, I've always had something nearby to grab onto when the restaurant turns into a Merry-Go-Round.

Making noise about the hole in the support post is a two edged sword. On one hand you're letting the customer know what you found, but then on the other hand it could make them worry and perhaps for nothing. However, very wise not to use the hole with the retrofit, but to stay far away from it. In any case they might want to have a structural engineer come out and inspect the hole and make recommendations. All the merch selling youtube content creators use the word 'merch' and get the idea of selling it from each other as well.. They also say they sell it because 'people' were asking them for it.. Yeah, ok, maybe their mom. Lemmings. Welcome to youtube. It comes with the territory. If I bought from each one I've watched my house would look like a clothing store and my kitchen cabinets full of coffee cups. Be thankful that some of the content creators haven't picked up the common youtube memes and repeat them 'releasing 'he schmoo'.

LOL. The restaurants I serviced were too damn cheap to replace bad equipment with new. Instead, they had a warehouse full of old junk, and they would send out someone to roll out the bad and roll in the new. No PM plan, everything was "fix on failure." At least you have customers that can see something besides the inside of their belly button.

@@joehead1294 No, if is isn't broken, you should keep it that way, and not allow it to deteriorate..... so that YOU can control when the box gets warm, and not wait for it to do that on its own, when it is full of perishables. By doing a good PM, you can replace worn parts and clean dirty coils. These restaurants don't realize it costs them product and loss of use when a failure happens, and the cost of the cleaning and the repairs is the same, on TOP of the loss of product and use of the equipment. Which is better?

We don't have a warehouse of old junk, unless you call one of the franchise owner's rental apartment properties a "warehouse" with mostly-broken 1980s equipment. Every time a part breaks, we have to wait a few months for him to pay a "tech" to pull a bad part from an out-of-service machine and put it into our sorta-working equipment to disable it further. The "tech" has made quite a few two-hour roundtrip drives to try and install a part that is either already broken, or not the right one in the first place. Horribly inefficient, not only in time, but financially. The guy does shoddy work. We have ZERO PM, and the owner likes it that way, no matter how many times an expensive failure we've had in the past 16 months I've worked there could have been prevented with a few days' TLC. Saving hundreds to spend thousands! That constant bearing squeal coming from one of the RTU's indoor blowers that I've been complaining about for 2 months? The sound you can hear from outside AND from the vents themselves? Not a problem until it fails. We'll worry about it then. (Please let it be a failure involving fire, just like the last time when the convection oven self-destructed, I want to give him the most epic "I TOLD YOU SO!")

Why do you use Copper for drain lines instead of PVC ? I find copper can sometimes clog really bad , and after a few years some will clog the point you have to tear it all out. Walkin Freezers I use copper with heat tape , but Coolers I use PVC

How are there no fan guards on the condenser? I know it’s covered with panels but still. All units in Ireland have fan guards.
