The instrumentation and arrangement you have here is really good. The variety of little drum fills and noises banging around throughout the piece is really atmospheric. It really adds to that chaotic, glitchy element of Spamton. Stylistically it's really dynamic and interesting. Which makes it stand out compared to some of the really flat and boring covers of this song I've heard. I went through some of the stuff on your SoundCloud. You have some really solid stuff. There's this element of storytelling with the music that not a lot manage to capture. Sorry for such a long comment, but I haven't found someone online who's work has peaked my interest for a while. I'm interested in anything you'll be putting out in the future.
@TECHNOJESTER2 жыл бұрын
Hey, it's okay, I didn't think it was backhanded at all, since that was what I was going for anyway. Writing drums is always one of my favourite parts of music and it's a great way to change the feeling of a song even if nothing else changes that much. I'm glad you like my other stuff too! I love the ways storytelling can be complimented by music, or music can even tell elements of the story entirely on it's own. It's something I became especially interested in thanks to Undertale (obviously) and Celeste. The idea that just listening to a soundtrack could tell a story of its own is something that's very cool to me, and I like to explore it in my own music. It means a lot that I've legitimately piqued your interest! I hope you enjoy whatever I put out next, I've got some paid work that I'm currently doing which I should be able to share a bit of publicly relatively soon, and I have plans for a couple more Deltarune remixes / fan-songs in the works when I have the time to crank them out.

"one time, a trainer caught a spamton G.S and seeked to make it stronger, but not out of his own will. he was tricked by spamton G.S to go into the tower of the elite four and find the basement for a 'special prize.' after becoming spamton neo, some say he killed the trainer as well as his friends. others say he made it out but no one truly knows"

The weird thing is that I almost feel this remix is missing some of the raw impact that the Pokemon B&W soundtrack had. They went hard on the use of intense sounds and rhythms. The way you built up to the climactic part of the song, though, is really well done and it plays out so nicely. I just feel like it could hit a bit harder, if that makes sense? Oh also the video to go along with this is sick and you should feel good.
@TECHNOJESTER2 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the video! I do agree, I feel like a little bit of extra harmony, textural elements and buildup towards the chorus could have made the track a bit better.
@dewybmt2 жыл бұрын
@@TECHNOJESTER It's good to see you're looking at the ways you can improve, too. Though, it's not like I know how to totally do it either. I guess it's just that songs made with these soundfonts really tried to hit home how intense and dangerous the situation was. The heartbeats used in N's themes, the chanting and heavy percussion in Ghetsis' themes, the harmony of synth sounds in Colress' themes, etc. I love the underlying bass in the chorus of this song, though. It's a really nice touch when it quiets down but you have this heavy pounding sound in your ear. I feel like there could be something more unique to this part, though. It's as though it's missing something in the sense that it almost has that charm I'd expect from a pokemon song. It's impressive that you could so accurately put two different styles of music together so well.
@TECHNOJESTER2 жыл бұрын
@@dewybmt Haha I mean, it doesn't matter whether or not anyone could perfectly do it themselves. If you can eloquently say what you feel is missing while being polite about it, as you have here, that's a really exceptional skill for giving criticism. And criticism like this is the best in my opinion, as it gives a really solid ground for what to focus on next time. I can't go too full steam on anything right now, between my first semester projects being due in early January, going home for the holidays, and working on paid soundtrack work, but I have a fun idea for another Pokémon style remix that I'll start working on once my schedule is a bit more open. When that happens I'll definitely be keeping this criticism in mind - even right after finishing this I felt like something was missing somewhere, so the input is really appreciated. When you work on something for too long it becomes hard to see the forest for the trees LOL. Glad you think I did a good job despite the areas to improve on, though.

@@TECHNOJESTER Of course I can understand being so caught up with stuff as the holidays, plus the regular demands of the end of the year, keep us all pretty held down. I'm just happy to share some of what I think listening to this. Just giving it a straightforward listen lets me know more about what it feels like, if that makes sense. It's definitely [BIG SHOT], I can hear the instruments of the B&W soundfont and it carries together pretty well. It might just be that the songs used in Pokemon were so full of energy and rapid sounds. Sometimes they had very triumphant and competitive vibes to them but B&W specifically were sometimes grim and really active. Putting it into words fully is difficult, that's why I mostly pointed to the other songs recognizable in the games themselves, because they use these limited and simple assets to such effect. Ghetsis' theme from the second games is probably one of the most memorable to me because of it's maniacal chorus of percussion reaching a peak almost like they were replacing the actual instruments. It feels like the climactic sensation of a madman boiling over and going ballistic, which was fitting. Or N's themes which used heartbeat rhythms and organ-synths to drive home his unnatural character. The way he seemed to genuinely want to put an end to you at times. This feels similar to those in the sense that the build-up with the voices leads into the chorus with this mix of almost steady notes being played over the heavy thrashing of static bass. Maybe it feels like there should be more playing along to the chorus in harmony, or rather that my mind expects it to build up from something soft to something more uncontrollable. I think that would fit with Spamton, as well, given his character's strange sense of clarity when he attacks Kris. It all began so simple and spiraled into a desperate panic for freedom. Though at this point that is more just me trying to scratch the itch of what I'm trying to say that I know I'm struggling with. I do think it's a sign of a good job, though, that I can't help but feel like it's very close to being more of a remastering than just a remix.

I love how this isn’t a simple soundfont swap and you actually took the time to try and make it sound like Pokémon Co. composed this for the game.
