Cost of living adjustments for Cola should include Rent for housing and unity and food costs etc. today the average SS,SSDI will not even cover the rent for housing at today’s high rents in many places are about $2,500.00 and up just to keep up with rent increases. How can someone on a $1,500.00 pay a $2500.00 rent to keep a roof over their head, and that does not even keep up with food costs. It’s insulting, what’s more insulting and disgusting for our government do is tax retirement benefits. Our Politicains are not living in the real world, and should have their government pensions stripped and have to depend on SS,SDI, and get a taste of what it feels like to struggle financially?

In most cities in California and mainly San Francisco and the Bay Area. SS,SSDI,SSI monthly benefits will not even cover the Rent for an average Apt to keep a roof over ones head. Rent in this area is about $2,500.00 a month up to $4,000.00 per month. Maybe the Cola raise should be set,by the cost of living and rents where Simone depending on SS, SSDI lives. The higher the rents to keep a roof over one’s head, the higher the Cola adjustment? Or a renter’s allowance, added on top of the monthly benefits to cover rent, depending on monthly rent. A lot like Section 8 housing tailored for retired seniors and disabled? Or a federal Rent Control law just for those depending on fixed incomes like SS,SSDI,SSI
