I was a little shocked. Taking it as a good sign because I have fished that area for years and that’s the first time that’s ever happened.

👍👍 for the big trout release. There are a few people on here I’ve keeping boxes of 20” trout and can’t understand why you’d keep them. I can see if one of 5 trout are 20” but If your hammering them, let the big girls go.

I really enjoy your videos; thanks for sharing content. Although I'm sure others haves probably asked in the past; how do you tie your flouro leader to our main line(illustration)? And is there and advantage/disadvantage to just fishing straight flouro? Thanks.
@Jar_Fishing9 ай бұрын
I use a “uni to uni” (also called “double uni”) knot to tie the leader to the main line. I just love the sensitivity of braid. That’s just my personal preference. Definitely nothing wrong with going straight fluro or mono if that’s what you are used to. I fished with an older guy one time that uses strictly mono and he fished circles around me lol.

Great video as always. Appreciate the detail info. Quick question what knot you use for your twitch bait, and then your jig head swim bait! Thanks in advance!
@Jar_Fishing9 ай бұрын
I use the Trilene knot for most of my terminal knots, including twitch baits as long as they have a split ring on the eye. If I have to tie straight to the eye of a twitch bait, I use a loop knot that I learned from Richard Gene’s videos.

Thanks! Sxr08 or sxr10. I like them both. The fresh water version is same thing just different hooks and they are a little easier to find. I usually change the hooks anyway so doesn’t matter to me.

What rod and reels are you guys using
@Jar_Fishing9 ай бұрын
Jig rod I was using in this video is a 7’ Medium Johnny Morris with a Lew’s BB1 Inshore. The jerk bait was on a Curado K reel with a 6’7” Falcon in Med Light rod.

@Jar_Fishing9 ай бұрын
You could get to the rock dam easily with the yak but not where I was in the marsh. Not sure if you watch any of @thepentupangler videos, but he has a knack for hammering the fish close to marinas in spots most boats can’t go. He did a couple videos in Hopedale this winter.

Why changing ftom 20# braid to 30#…no ‘cover’ to fish through !?! Do understand going to ‘Medium Action’ rod…!
@Jar_Fishing9 ай бұрын
No reason other than those are the reels I usually use when I’m fishing for Reds. I set the hook pretty hard on Reds so I usually use 20lb Fluoro leader and the 30lb braid is a closer match to the diameter of the leader. It just so happens that I had 15lb leader still tied on because I’ve been targeting Trout last few trips. My opinion is that the leader matters more than the main line. Leader is the weakest link anyway (for me) so probably not much difference in using 20lb or 30lb main line.
