I have to give respect to Art Skills as a company. I bought some of their supplies, to do a craft with kids, and one of the colored pencil sets had 2 blues and no red. I emailed the company and they were supposed to send me a new set. I got the biggest padded mailer I've ever seen from them. Watercolor pencils, colored pencils, paper, pens, I don't even remember but it was a LOT! They sent me a note saying they were sorry and to please pass the supplies on to the kids. Total class act.

Herobrine steve you’ve gotta work the michales coupons. I used to work there and I learned so quickly that with the right coupon combos you can get things for DIRT cheap. Art supplies are rarely on sale (it’s mostly seasonal stuff that goes on sale) so the % off a regular priced item coupons almost always apply to fine art supplies! Plus with a student/teacher/military/senior 15% discount off everything or a 20% off everything coupon from the app? Super cheap art supplies.

I used to work at a Dollar General, and yeah, they're all like that. The stores are woefully understaffed, and the workload is insane, so the stores aren't always the cleanest because the employees are so goddamn busy.

Mine is too, but it shouldn’t be. There’s no reason for merchandise to be all over the floor there’s just no excuse for it. I’ve seen shoppers let their kids make a mess like it’s their own personal playground and not do a thing about it. They just keep on walking pretending like they don’t see anything while their kids are screaming at the top of their lungs knocking stuff everywhere. I’ve seen a few adults that are almost as bad too. Glad to know some things are worthy. Practice supplies aren’t supposed to be expensive. A lot of practice pieces end up in the trash so don’t waste your good supplies.

Hey Rae! A watercolor tip! Start with putting the paint in and then add water, you can add a bit ir a lot and it will help you with both mixing and getting the right shade. Also if you want a more smooth finish start by applying a thin layer of water on the area that you're painting before you go in with color. It will flow better and give you a better and smoother wash :)

Very much this. It pains me to see Rae doing that and I just hope she learns to just put the paint on the palette on its own and activate it by the water on the brush. "'The watercolours aren't that pigmented" well yes since you put way too much water in them and also watercolours are meant to be layered. I don't hate Rae, I just hope she learns because I believe she could have way more fun using watercolours

I worked at a dollar general for 4 years, and as an artist, some of the art stuff isn’t too bad. Those colored fine liners?? LOVE THEM. As for the mess in the store, jfc they’re known for it. My store was always cleaner compared to others (ya girl cleans). But it’s impossible to keep the store clean and I have no clue why. Customers just don’t care.

Most of the art supplies I have are from Dollarama and honestly they're great. They sell watercolour paper, decent sketchbooks, acrylic paint, and even alcohol markers. Dollar tree also has an endless section of pens and they also sell good pencil sets.

You don’t exactly put the water in before the watercolor Rae! 😆 you put the paint in and then transfer water from the brush or a pipet.also got my little brother those fine liners for this years Christmas, it’s great to now that he will like them (since I promised “real” art supplies.)

This remembers me when you see in Germany we have a Store called Tedi and you can find some Kind of? cheap Art supplies and what I found there were some metallic markers, a White Gel pen and a Sketch Block(?) The metallic markers were like 3€ (3$ maybe a little more) and they are Not bad (it's a silver and a golden one), the white Gel pen (we all know how hard it actually is to find good white Gel pens)I found was 3€ (again Like 3$ or more) and it is very good, Last was the Sketch Block and you should know this one has Like 20 white, 20 Brown and 20 black pieces of paper and it is really good paper I mean for 5€ (or 5$ a little more...maybe..) (If some of you want to know the Gel pen is the uni-ball Signo broad, it writes very good on black paper so I can only recommend it)

Looks like DG stores being messy is a standard everywhere. All the stores here are a pigsty, always. Lol I have never seen all those art supplies at any of the Dollar General stores in my area. I will admit I have seen the paint brushes at a couple of the stores here and canvas panels, wood, glitter glue etc. Most of it was more crafting related than art. I've been buying cheap art supplies at Doller General for years now. In my small town it's the only place to physically buy art supplies. Other wise I have to buy off Amazon. My Doller General also has smaller canvas board and stretched canvases too. And it's my favorite place to buy adult coloring books that I use for drawing inspiration and to test color combinations on.

I have a dollar general in my town and its 1 of 2 stores here and the closest craft store is 30 minutes away so I always get art supplies from Dollar General lol
