Nice review! Seems like a great watch and I think your market positioning is spot on. The glaring omission I see for this upgrade that considering the increase in case size and thickness that the water resistance has not been increased to at least 100m. I regularly swim in open water and scuba dive -- and actively use my watches in these environments (specifically JLC Navy SEAL Master Compressor and Rolex SeaDweller). 50m is too little and I believe a deal-breaker for many potential buyers. Apart from the practical aspect, Omega should be looking to do this anyway: it's another important design and engineering attribute, similar to accuracy or antimagnetic properties.

It’s an interesting watch. I’m only surprised that no other watch has added the adjustment feature. Black and Yellow is a classic combo that works well.

For a change, I have contrary thoughts: I see the spirate technology as a positive move and bringing Swiss watches to the quoted GS accuracy. I understand that Spring Drive is more groundbreaking but considering that this is purely mechanical with no quartz components, I appreciate it for its push on the accuracy front. Do I care about the watch it is initially in? Absolutely not. But does it make me think that it will be brought down to a lot more models? I at least wish for that. Makes it not just one off but the most accurate mechanical watch to my knowledge and as an enthusiast, I definitely appreciate it.

Fair enough - For me I would like to see it in some other models. It's just so irrelevant in this particular model... .😃😃

@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch Totally! But I can guess why they put it here. Better try on a niche model than testing it in the main models. Only speculation on corporate logic.

Looking at this i think cool watch. Black and yellow and a honey comb, thats cute. Not sure why that appeals to me but i like it. Oh boy it is big but it might have to be to go over the top of my fire protection gear before I jump into my john player special on the weekend. Ha ha 🏁 🏎

I would like the Spi-rate to be deployed in other 3 hands more classic looking watches.

I would just wish they put it into more watches in general 😊😊

I vote for this too as I don’t buy chronographs anymore. I also feel that the spirate would be great in a 3 hands, no date, watch as nothing would affect its torque. I have one chronograph and two rattrapantes but these complications are hardly ever used. I much prefer a rotating bezel, a rotating graduated rehaut or / and a mechanical alarm. I have a Jaeger-Lecoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968 which I got new at release in 2008 and it is really nice to use it as my alarm clock in the morning. I did it for more than a year whilst working offshore Brunei 🇧🇳, it was awesome 🤗

A slightly smaller variant would be nice. Everything about the watch is perfect except the size. Too big.

& terrible water resistance rating 👎

I may but this watch. As far as the size, I’m fine. 44mn watches are like a spoiler on a car- people notice.
