i will tell you. They brought millions of fans in that did not know anything about kpop. Those fans then decided to join other fandoms to become multifandom. From there a huge chunk of these millions of people told someone who then told someone about kpop. That is why kpop is bigger than it was 10 years ago. Liyana Rabah - Theyre kings because theyre actual game changers in kpop. Music in korea was never experimented on before Bigbang (GD) actually tried it. They changed kpop to what it is today. It was never about going western and doing western. Western music doesnt even sound like this to an extent. Phonetically in English though, they all sound similar to nigga lol. fun fact, in chinese, they also say "nega" which also sound like nigga but they are saying "that/this".

Funny story about that. I had an African friend that knew I spoke chinese so they asked me "why does it sound like the chinese people at this shop I go to are always saying nigga?" Not only do chinese people use 那个 nage (sounds like naygeh) to mean 'that' they also use it like we use 'umm' as a filler word while thinking. So that is why you will hear it said a lot. On a side note 这个 zhege (jaygeh) actually means 'this'.

He came and created a path and opportunity for a lot of black artist to come through. But the OG’s are James Brown and Diana Ross etc. Right. Much like Big Bang they brought more awareness about Kpop on an international level. At the time Kpop was only really big just in Korean and they surpassed that. I feel like i need to impart some knowledge. Big Bang is the oldest group to never change members. They weren't very popular when they debuted but got a huge break with their song "Lies" since then they have done nothing but rise in the kpop world helping to shape it into what it is today. GDragon is not just the leader but the person who writes their songs. As they got more popular their videos became a lot more stranger. Good but stranger lol. Now people just consider it Big Bang's style. They are definitely kings! I recommend trying out Brown Eyed Girls. They are kpop icons. Not considered really anything like queens (to the general populace, but queens to me) or anything but they are part of the reason kpop is what it is. Give their songs a listen they definitely dont disappoint.

*Pulls out a big ass research book of Bigbang * Basic Bio: Bigbang is a 5 member group created under YG entertainment back in 2006. Bigbang is the first idol group to be created under YG entertainment after their former label member se7en (the first idol singer under YG) They are considered one of the first groups that began the Hallyu wave in the western world and the whole world. ( Their Tours are no joke fam) They debuted in 2006 with the rnb/hiphop hit 'LaLaLa' (There's a English and Korean version of this song) They reached popularity in Asia with their songs : Lies , Haru Haru, and Farewell. They reached international attention around their 'Tonight' promotions (2010) being one of the first kpop acts to win an award on western MTV awards. They reached even more international fame ( Like on a PSY level) With their most notable songs (that got most og kpop fans into kpop) 'Fantastic Baby' Fun facts: Bigbang had originally 6 members but during a survival show the 6th member left. It's hard to explain you just have to watch the making of Bigbang to get what happened. Let's just say he didn't take his last chance to join and Seungri took his place. Bigbang have faced alot of turmoil and almost disbanded around 2011 due to alot of scandals ( Daesung got into a car crash and the person involved died so people called him a murderer ( Korean media is scary honestly), GD got caught with a small trace of weed on his system ( a big no no in Korea apparently hu) , and Seungri ran into many dating rumors (which is also a big no no sadly. Idk why tho) Many believe it was because they were at the Idol group curse prime ( Most groups at the time disbanded around their 3 to 5 year) Happily they took a small break and went on Healing Camp to "repent" their situations and explain what was going on. Thanks to that the went past the idol curse and came out with one of their most successful albums of kpop 'ALIVE' (2012) They are a still ongoing group but as of now they are not promoting for a few years due to Military Service requirements but they are planning to due solo promotions until all members are finished ( That will probably be 2020)
