Hello!
Here's the ride review by CK of the all new Himalayan 450. CK shares his thoughts on what he liked the most and also shares his dislikes. He also shares his final ratings for this motorcycle. Hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed riding.
And, a video of my H450 ownership is already in the works. Hope to have it done and published sometime this month 2nd half.
Cheers!

I dont care about RE as a long time user of Japanese bikes, but kudos to them for the machine. As a domestic manufacturer, it will bite a big chunk from both sides of the spectrum - those smaller 300 cc and the larger 650+ cc ADV bikes are now redundant. Those who fail to innovate and compete will perish.

Personally, I also think that this model will be incredibly successful, the bike brings together the most important points in the adventure, it has a good price, the maintenance intervals are the best there is, the Royal has a very good sense of general balance, it is not simply a 450cc made to ride at high revs or as a competition motorcycle, the The engine really has a great balance👍 It can be used comfortably and can also be used for fun, however I don't think they should give up on developing long-stroke air/oil-cooled concept engines. That's why I would like to add another motorcycle to your comparison, why don't you add the Mash XRide Trail to the comparison, it is a Dual Sport Classic motorcycle, it uses an Air\Oil Cooled engine and is 650cc, it delivers the same power as the Royal but it has more torque, the prices of the bikes are similar, it would be interesting to know to what extent a Classic DualSport can be as much or more fun than more modern bikes and at the same time it can make Royal Enfield see how it should not give up on its Air-cooled models .

In the ownership review, pls do touch on commuting - how easy it is to cut through traffic. And how is it like to do different repair jobs on the bike. Like topping up coolant, Valve clearance, etc. Even just checking engine oil and coolant levels, believe its not very visible.

The question that i have is, how reliable these new gen machines are? I meant, these packages revs high and preform heavy on the road! Does it have the reliability thing which Japanese makes have? I am not sure about that considering the fact that i own a Japanese machine for few years which truly respects my care returning zero torture! At the same time, i have seen few friends of mine who have become haters of many such brands due to poor reliability, sub-par servicing and above all, limited parts availability!

Great review! That side stand design though! Luggage won’t reduce lean sir, will actually add more lean and load to the side stand, and I am not sure how much load it can take. RE did it the way they did it to accommodate the main stand. It is unfortunate that I can’t even weld a small tube under the side stand to reduce the lean, there’s no room for it when the side stand is up. The side stand looks solid though, but I guess I would use the main stand more as a workaround. With every degree increase in lean angle, that cosine multiplier of bike weight shoots up big time, and luggage makes it worse. Just feels like RE was lazy to put enough resources into the side stand department and get it right!

I would dare to say that there is another competitor which no many knows about: the Alp 4.0. I think it is even more capable offroad than the Royal but in terms of long trips not as suitable most probably. I have to go to see it in person before deciding. Cheers

This channel is gold standard for motorbike review. Bosky saar, Do you recommend this over 390 adv x ? Which is priced similarly while being 20kg lighter with 3 extra horses.

Tough question to answer. Weight and top end power is where the 390A excels. I'll need to ride them back to back to know more. Stay tuned.

@@bigbearbangalore thank you very much. Waiting for your comparison video on 390 /310/ 450/scr 400x. My personal view is RE has priced it 20K more than what it should have been. I noticed few early adopters are sitting on the fence due to price. I took back to back test ride of Himalayan, yezdi adv and 390adv (very short, within the City ) . Somehow I felt H450 is a better packaged yezdi adventure and nothing more.(apologies for my harsh views) . in all likelihood RE may not hike the price post 31st December.

Everything is soo good but I wish for two things one is cruise control and second is flickering issue with the display should be resolved with an update or something else.
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 10 ай бұрын
Ok. I find cruise control not useful for our road conditions. And the flickering is only on camera due to a frequency issue between the LED and camera sensors and not actual.

Don’t wait for ninth month is a good idea in all risk aspects, but how you ensure that the H411 will go within 9th month? The H450 did well in Suspension, ergonomics & braking but engine & build quality needs a re-look.

For some riders, a motorcycle is just a tool and for some it becomes an extension of themselves. I cannot foresee the latter selling away their bikes for the new shiny toy in town the moment it becomes available. That way the motorcycle market might become like the smartphone market where we keep switching without any attachment to the product. Anyway, I feel this video can and will influence people owning the OG Himalayan to sell of their bikes and get the new one. I wanted these people to reevaluate their thinking. Was it only after this new Himalayan was launched that you realised the shortcomings of the older one? If so, then you have fallen in the trap of consumerism. The new Himalayan is a good product probably, but whether the upgrade is necessary is debatable for many Himalayan owners. We customers have to be wise, because KZbinrs will promote and influencers will influence.

I did the test ride of the new Himalayan took it on the highway for about 20kms. Had one thing that bugged me, the ride by wire has a slight lag in giving throttle which also lead to a bit of engine knocking at low speeds on the 2nd and 3rd gear. Did you guys face anything similar ( I have been riding the Dominar 400 and haven’t really ridden a ride by wire motorcycle before)
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 10 ай бұрын
Yes there's a lag and I've shared the same in my first ride impressions video. And I've got used to it and learnt to work with it. About the knocking, perhaps you dropped the revs below 2500.

I think RE has ticked all the boxes for a 450cc adventure touring bike, built for a purpose out of the box with acceptable power and suspension. We have had some bike reviewers from Australia test the bike and they were impressed. Low seat height and big tank with approx 450 km range. Other manufacturers need to take note on what they are not making for the market that needs 450cc adventure touring bikes.

Greetings sir 🤠 Being an owner of the Himalayan 450 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 I would like to know which is the better bike to buy for me. I am very heavy in weight and 5.8 feet tall My needs I travel 22 kms daily to work in heavy Mumbai traffic And occasional long highway road trips 3 to 4 times a year 300 to 500 kms. My main priority is comfort in the seat, riding triangle, suspension Because of my body. Good reliable product with low maintenance hassles would be the second priority. What would be your suggestion? Your wise counsel is always appreciated

Bosky, temptation maybe high but I would suggest wait for 6 months to a year, new engine, new frame, I can understand fan boys buying anything RE launches but they are no Kawasaki. Himalayan BS3 they claimed was tested extensively and shoddy QC saw many cases of chassis snap,subsequent versions of Himalayan haven't been problem free either.
