so far its not about lovelihood for me, but I adore this guy. I am a keralite, so being to kerala including agriculture or fisheries is far so important to me too. i wish i could see something up and running something like this for me despite losses. even for some years. :) because pravaasis that damn feel like coming back home. we want happiness ultimate happiness, with some bear returns. Ultimately we never left for money, but lack of ideas / resources. This particular product, not may all benefit due to captial investment sizes, but please continue to motivate indians ikka. . . may be i will not be able to do it. but we want people like you to educate and create innovative minds. . kherala needs people like him to start up things. imaginations. ideas.

The problem is that Aquaponics farmers in Kerala are not done their research by themselves properly and they are depending up on the so called "consultants". If it's so profitable why these so called "consultants" are not setting up big Aquaponics for profit by themselves ?!! just think ! I appreciate the owners dedication, but he has been misinformed that this is one of the biggest aquaponics units in Inida as claimed by his "consultant" Keep your spirits high you can improve it better and better.

Dear friends my kind request is plz don't jump into acquaponics assuming that its a good profitable business. Listen to the farm owner in this vedio itself. He has spent around 40 -60 lakhs and still he says it's not given him a profit from acquaponics farming yet after 1 year experience and if u keenly watch the video he is struggling to run the farm on day today basis. Owner itself says that fish is not a major money maker in return; vegetables r the main product from the farm and that also soled only on higher price ( of course I understand its quality is best ), but even though vegs sold on high price, still that profit is not actually helping him to run the farm as profit making farm. Somehow he manage to run it with that. He has to pay his employees, electricity bills, and marketing is still the big issue , even if few supermarkets r taking his vegs, still farm is not profit making. Now the owner is really struggling to continue it... bcz he has started it with huge investment, he can't run way from it at the moment. I m Jomon Mathew from Kottayam. I had a farm 8 months before. It was not acquaponics farm but was a Quail ( Kaada farm ) .It was a big farm project with a capital of 10 lakhs. I tried all my level best with my full heart and soul, but ended in a lose of 8 lakhs rupees loss. From that experience I m talking. Plz note this point - I commented about acquaponics only considering the pofitability of it compering to its huge investment. u Ultimately we all do it to make a good living from the profit of the business we do. Thanks for reading. .

If you are planning to visit Madhavi farm in bannarkatta, Bangalore. Contact them and confirm that you can capture inside the farm. Because they will not allow visitor's. They build this farm with the help of the Canadian consultant company. When I visited Madhavi farm they will not allow me to see inside the farm.

I would not advise any NRI to invest such money in Aquaponics in Kerala. It is a non-viable project with the current approach.If you think about it the interest alone on that money will be about Rs 1200 and another Rs 800 for at least one person to look after the set up plus fish feed cost and electricity etc etc etc and you can easily see why he is struggling. We are not even talking of the returns on his efforts. Aquaponics will not make money on vegetables in Kerala. If he has to recover his investment - he can not think fish as a by-product and he has to rearrange his pond use and aqua-bed use. The two ponds should be reorganized in to 4 sections with fish in continuous supply and as part of his offering. The crops should be switched away from common vegetables to value added crops with minimum human labour. Also energy consumption is too high for his project and it should be optimized and reduced by half at least. Before you start please calculate the project cost to see if the revenue projections are any where near reality. You can not depend on government subsidy or favors in Kerala and labour is always a problem.
