I have seen the Danjiri Matsuri with the shrines racing down the streets, but for pure danger, its hard to beat the Nada No Kenka fighting shrines. A lot of participants get scraped up. Seemed like a lot of beer was being consumed by participants. Police do their best to keep the non participants safe but when the shrines are staging up to enter the ring, it is best to stay well back as the crowds lurch wildly. 😅

I’ve seen that one on tv before!! I’m gonna try to go this year…and film from a distance 😎

Do you know of the wooden "bones" of the floats are reused year-to-year? I imagine it would be very expensive to replace all that heavy lumber every year, and with the care given to each float's design, it seems like the pieces could be reused. It's nice to see so many young people taking an active interest in these matsuri and the traditions that go along with them. Thanks, Frankie.

I'm glad to hear that!! I was wondering if rebuilding them every year meant new materials lol.

I accidentally missed the festival when visiting because I had school 😅
