Olympiakos fan here. I’m a season ticket holder of olympiakos for the past couple of seasons and been watching Greek league games all my life. There is definitely evidence of match fixing from him if you see matches from the past two decades. If you ask other Greek league clubs supporters they will say he is all of those things he has been accused of by that lady. Btw marinakis and karypidis were good buddies and indeed had a falling out so yeah the article guy was right. There is a lot of context and info that you don’t know and as Greeks even don’t as he is never going to be charged due to the Greek Justice system being corrupt. Just to illustrate this in Greek league for derby games we bring foreign referees (mostly German) in order to referee our games.
@nonamedbuc2 күн бұрын
Spot on,just one small correction.He is/was charged for a lot of crimes he allegedly commited,it just so happens that most witnesses for the case were either found dead or had to flee the country
@DrZaius31412 күн бұрын
Good thing that German referees have never had any controversies about them!
@koup38673 күн бұрын
You... Didn't particularly get this right Z. He was charged with heroin trafficking in Greece over the Noor 1 case, which was dismissed after every suspect and witness in the case died within a 10 year period. He was charged with match fixing in 2015 for the Koriopolis scandal, but was found innocent. While even I, being a Greek who hates Marinakis, have never heard about the pipe bomb story, it is quite widely believed that he was in some way involved with the Noor 1 scandal, the biggest heroin catch in European history and it is blindingly obvious that there was matchfixing in favour of Olympiacos ever since he took over, it is the reason we only have foreign refs for derbies here nowadays.

Hello. Greek fan here. Although I agree that what she is doing is insane, most of what she claims is true. The referee's bakeshop being bombed, true. The System is even common knowledge in Greece. To be fair, he wasn't the only one in it. Half the Superleague owners were in it, with him running the show. There is no evidence against him and there never will be in Greece. He is too powerful and the system too corrupt. Imagine, that he was under court for a drug case and was supposed to not be allowed to leave the country, but he didn't turn in his passport. He just said he lost it and then went on to travel to England for Forrest business. Just search noor1 and then come back. Of course almost all the big owners are in shady businesses, but he is the one that stands out by far. Welcome to Greece.

Bro i am an olympiakos fan by birth and all my life i have been hearing about these acusations from everyone i have met and to be honest he is in the shipment industry where he might be moving drugs and the match fixing might be true in the early 2000s but everyone was paranoid because of the referees giving extremely bad calls and thats why a lot of people despise referees in greece and why the greek fa wants top level referees from fifa for derbys
@kkatharman2 күн бұрын
Every single one of these "alleged" crimes described in this article is common knowledge here in Greece. I understand that it is very difficult for someone from abroad to accept. Good luck to Nottingham with him in charge. ps. Check the noor1 case, fun stuff

Forest are now 3rd after hammering West Ham 3-0 and other results going the way they did. I like this part of the 80s. 8:29 he doesn't work in a soup kitchen, but he did donate £8,000 to a local youth football club after their ground was damaged by travellers, which matched all previous donations (including £1,000 from Brennan Johnson). £8,000 is a huge sum of money when it comes to local youth football.

A good friend of mine is a mad Greek, (from the green side), I sent this to him! What I didn't expect was the tirade of profanities about this guy! Maybe we don't understand why she is hell bent on destroying him, but from what I understand, he is the epitome of a standover guy! Nefarious connections, some seriously questionable results for Olympiakos in recent years. Players who always seem to be injured when their team has play them. The list goes on. As my friend tells me, he is hiding in plain sight! He thinks he's untouchable , certainly in Greece. Perhaps this has a lot to do with why she is concentrating in the UK?
@zedgenius9347Күн бұрын
Rival fans in Greece have the most insane accusations against Olympiacos. While Marinakis is shady and there's no denying that, not even by Oly fans, they are greatly exaggerating his shadiness when it comes football. If you take a look at some of the stuff that's said, you'd figure out that Aston Villa and Fiorentina were paid to throw the conference league matches last season, Bonucci was paid to miss a penalty and that Marinakis paid off every referee to win us games as if we are some relegation side quality that wins titles. You could have the most honourable man to ever live run this club, rival fans would swear he's the devil. Yes Olympiacos have gotten a few questionable calls during his time in charge, most notably an offside call in a derby 11 years ago and a handball not given in a cup final a couple years later, but every team gets a wrong call in their favour once in a while since the referees are not quite professional in Greece, they are amateur level (literally). Marinakis' stance with the FA is to push foreign professional referees in the league, while clubs like AEK insist on sticking with amateurs, yet Olympiacos are the shady club. That stuff are literally conspiracy theories echo chambered loudly enough that people believe them. Even if you look at it objectively, the injured players against us thing that your friend said is simply not true. You can literally use transfermarkt or any app like it to check injuries, teams don't have more players or more important players injured against Olympiacos than they normally have. AEK bought the best player in the Lamia squad before their match last season on the same day in April (they don't use him, he's stuck to the reserves). They also made a deal with former Panathinaikos goalkeeper Brignoli and since that happened he let in goals every game for PAO after being the best keeper in a league for over a year. Panathinaikos and Aris have been accused by former players that they refused to pay them. Var gives Panathinaikos a penalty literally outside the box. Misses clear reds for them. But who's shady? The big bad Olympiacos. Being robbed is easier to admit than being shit, so figures

well cant prove accusations if you murder all the parties that witness said events: "In January 2021 and after 10 witnesses of the case have already died, and after reviewing the case, the judge came to the conclusion that there was no evidence implicating Marinakis, and therefore concluded his investigation."

While it was definitely a defamation drived by a personal feud, some of the points the campaign made are right. Marinakis might not have been accused of drug trafficking, but 2 ships of his maritime fleet have been found to carry drugs for example, tons of them. The greek justice system is too corrupt to carry out any proper investigation sadly. Check the Noor 1 case if you want a good example
@argy75263 күн бұрын
Marinakis a couple years ago had a case of a ship of his being found full of coke but the case was dropped after all the witnesses were found dead, he got away with it because the witnesses died and was closely related to the government (he was their sponsor and related to the prime minister) and one of the biggest channels in greece belongs to him 💀 9:21 watch the early 2000s derby games and say that again, whilst most of the leagues olympiacos has won were deserved they are definetely not a clean team in terms of match fixing (neither is aris that belongs to karipidis or the rest of the greek teams but olympiacos has a tradition)

The UK has some of the most generous libel laws in the world (both in terms of the payout and how the burden of the proof is weighted strongly in favour of the person bringing the case), so Nottingham Forest may get an early season cash bonus.

For the first time i was a little irked by Zny how he was handling this, but thankfully Greek fans are correcting his ignorance. As I say, nearly every one of these charges have been common knowledge for years in European football , hence many people's intrigue how he'd get on in England.
