If the order was smallest to largest, then Babylon 5 should have been second to last. In the episode "Babylon Squared," it is stated that Babylon 4 is the largest of the two.

Yea... B4 was said to be the largest of the Babylon Stations. Although it could refer to mass rather than length. B4 does look far chonkier than B5. And she had two separate rotating sections that spun in opposite directions, vs B5's 1 large section. Also I think some sources also say that B4 was actually a MOBILE space station.

I think the creator of this vid confused the stated length of the rotating section of B4 for its actual length, and then used B5's actual length (rotating section plus the long "tail" at the back) and thus ended up with those figures

Considering that this is a setting where a 450m ship is considered a CORVETTE, the Babylon 5 station should really have been a LOT bigger.

I still cannot believe that the White Star is supposed to be that long. In some battles they seem so small, but it seems to be canon. Also in general I think that star ships in shows tend to be too big. The longest aircraft carriers are around 330m and in scifi even small ships are nearly 0.5km.

Well there are some fundimental differences between a modern Aircraft Carrier and ships in sci-fi. The biggest being that it needs to be fully enclosed and air tight so that the crew can actually live. So everything has to be internal for the most part. Not only that, some systems are probably much larger as well, such as the engines. Think of it kinda like a submarine on a larger scale. I think one sci-fi show that tends to have smaller ships is Star Trek, as most don't break 1 kilometer at all. I think only the recently canonized Odyssey class does so for the Federation. Before that it was the Universe class, but we never actually saw her in action in Enterprise. Another one might be Stargate, as the BC-304 was a relatively small ship compared to her counterparts in the Goa'uld and Wraith fleets, however she was fully capable of punching well above her weight.

Sea vessels have liits to size based on waves, gravity and such. Nevertheless they get bigger as time goes by ,look at ww2 destroyers compared to modern ones. As well as having fewer upper limits there is the inverse cube law(volume gets bigger faster than surface area so you need less % armour the bigger you make the ship. Oh and most scifi leaves out space mining. The tech that is required for it and the lack of gravity makes for an inevitable upscaling of industry. It's like before the industrial revolution, noone imagined the idea of an iron bridge cuz it would take centuries of blacksmiths to make, then we scaled up our iron works and started throwing them up left right and center. Tdlr, space ships are very likely to be much bigger than modern navy ships especially interstellar ones, big engines are much more efficient

Babylon 5 is a space station , it is not a ship ,i can accept Babylon 4 on the list of Spaceship because from the Babylon 5 comic or Novel it was mention Babylon 4 had the largest ion propulsion engine .Babylon 4 has it's own engine ,it can move on it's own power , i can count B4 as a ship .But Babylon 5 is just space station , not a ship .
