A friend of mine always got his luggage searched departing but not returning. When he was departing , he neatly packed all his electronic stuff in a particular area of his luggage. He didn’t get searched nearly as much when he separated his electronics and didn’t wrap the cords as neatly as he was able to.

Most of the time vacations suck because you realize that it’s not a little break you wanted or needed, it’s far worse. Don't forget that after you come back from your vacation you need to use up a couple of vacation days more to recover from the exhausting travel. And then - this is more a problem with the work environment and not really the fault of the vacation, but - when you return to work after the vacation, most of the work has just been piling up while you were away. So you have to work extra hard, eliminating the effect of your vacation.

I used to have a manager that would literally schedule of us up the the last possible minute before we’d leave on our flight and practically as soon as we landed back at home. So many of us had to put our time off for some awkwardly long time frames so we’d have that time to pack and then recover and unpack. She couldn’t understand why this was so annoying 🙄. So me driving up north to visit family for a couple of days would turn into an almost two week time off. I don’t want to work right up to the minute before I leave and then the minute I get back. You need that vacation decompress.

I’d say another way that vacations can suck is if you have that one party member who creates an itinerary of what you’re gonna be doing at every hour of every day of your vacation and they expect you to be able to both recite the schedule and adhere to it without question.
@honkgoth6712 Жыл бұрын
Facts. There's a delicate balance between feeling micro managed when you're supposed to be relaxing and having fun, or planning so little that you end up aimlessly wandering around a foreign country without any guidance. When planning these things, it's best that everyone involved has a say in what should be done as a group. Have some loose locations, restaurants, etc. that you wanna hit up, but plan ahead for some break time too. That way the group can follow a loose itinerary and gain expectations in how the trips gonna go ahead of time, while also having enough room to breathe and take everything in. 🤣 That is if things don't go tits up, as they usually do on vacation
@artemisiakyrell772711 ай бұрын
Yeah fr, the best vacation I've ever gone on was one time my family just spent a week chilling at a resort up the coast. We had an event/activity to do every few days so we weren't just rotting, it was perfect.
@omnipi6 ай бұрын
It’s super important that every travel group be in the same page about what kind of trip you’re going to have. Different expectations around how much planning to do, how much activity, how much to spend, what kinds of things to do or see, etc, can all ruin a vacation for all parties. Even how much luggage to bring can ruin a trip. And sometimes you’re in the mood for different types of trips - it’s not always just a fixed personality type. Critical to talk it out beforehand.

Best vacation we ever took was just driving to a town about 45 minutes away renting a hotel room in a nice hotel that had a small kitchenette and just chilling in the room most of the week. Went out to eat a couple of times at nice restaurants, to see a movie, and to the aquarium. But didn't have a schedule to follow, no stressing over entertainment, no rushing around to make it somewhere on time, and no worries for a whole week. Bought a stash of snacks and groceries to stock the room's mini fridge, the kitchenette had a microwave and small stove top too. We also had brought a couple of books, a deck of cards, and a couple of board games. This was a while back and in the off season, so rooms were between $50-75 depending on the day of the week for two queen size beds in a recently built hotel so everything was clean and new. It was so relaxing, and we weren't dead tired from traveling when we got home.

When I was growing up we were too poor to travel so, we just visited family an 8 hours drive away from home during the summers. I thought it was great. Everyone else visited Disney land or some expensive shit. I'm sure their parents reminded them daily of all the shit they bought for them constantly. I just came back from vacation last week and made the realization that vacations kinda suck. So much prep work goes into planning the trip. Also prep at work (I’m a salon owner) for being away. It took 6.5 hours in the car to get there so two vacation days are travel, not vacation. The equipment needed for the beach is ridiculous (though I do adore the beach). As the mom I still cooked and cleaned during the vacation. When I didn’t cook, dinner out was very expensive. Now that I’m back my work is insanely busy as I make up for the week I was gone. Kind of a sad realization. I don’t know the solution.

The other people aspect is so relatable, and enhanced even more when the only vacations you can take is with your family, at least for me, because my parents' idea of a vacation is way different to my idea of a vacation. My favorite vacations are Cruises, during winter. It's mid 70s in the Caribbean and out of 9 cruises, I only had one bad weather day with 15 foot swells so mostly perfect weather. The reasons I love them a lot, It's really affordable, food is all free except the specialty restaurants, you wake up in a different place every day but doesn't force you off the ship, the food stations change every 2-3 hours, so there's always something different to try, and the biggest one, most cruises have kid free zones. Say that for any other vacation, lol. Also to mention, if you travel with family, this is the only vacation where it's encouraged that you all split up and do your own thing for hours on end.

It's the first stop on Alaska cruises and everyone there hates that they rely on tourism to survive. The town lives on a vast island in the USA's largest RAINFOREST! I myself might take you on a tour into the woods along a nice trail to see, moss, ferns, trees, hella salmon in a stream. Super dope, the town parties hella hard so go take a hike at 4 pm, then get shit tanked on reasonably priced booze with the locals. Also if an out of towner rings the bell, everyone cheers for you! Going through customs is either extremely easy or the worst part of traveling. No in between. Either they will look at your passport and let you go with basically nothing said barre maybe sometimes a few basic questions, or there will be an insane line and you will enter basically an interrogation where you better be able to answer every minute detail of why you’re in whatever country and what you plan to do.

TSA stopped my nephew a few years back (traveling with me, my son, and his grandpa who has guardianship over him). He was 7/8 at the time and the agent is asking him who he’s traveling with, our phone numbers (like who they KNOWS phone #’s like that any more), and where his parents are 😳😬 poor kid nearly had a meltdown. We were coming back to MA from FL, I know they’re just doing their job but jeez. My dad carries the guardianship letter with him now when we travel even domestic.

I'm lucky enough to travel by car with my family (Europe is wonderfully drivable for the most part, if you don't count the highway fees). And we always take a shitload of pictures because we all do montages with them, so it looks cool :)

I like vacations, I like travelling, I like the stress, when you get back home to your own bed to unwind that's also great, for me the depression sets in 2 weeks after I get back home when I've fully recovered from the holiday and start to miss it but that wears off after another couple of weeks, the build up to the holiday is also incredibly exciting.

I got back from vacation yesterday! I visited Las Vegas for the first time. (I'm from Canada) It was so much fun, but the travel was a NIGHTMARE. They "randomly" selected me (it's because I have type 1 diabetes, and carry insulin, syringes, etc.), our flight was 40 minutes late, and we would have missed our connecting flight if we had checked luggage. Luckily we always travel with just carry on so we made it in time ... Only to learn the company had removed us from the flight because they knew we weren't supposed to make it, and just never told us! Luckily the ladies at the desk were very helpful and rebooked us into business class😂 But yeah. I loved my trip, I had so much fun, but the travel SUCKS

The worst vacation I've been on was when I was like six and my family went to Vegas (it was for like a wedding or something, so we decided we'd have vacationwhile there) and there were two things that absolutely destroyed that trip for me (but made funny memories) #1: IDk why, but my family decided to walk THE ENTIRE STRIP, my baby feet hurt so bad! And we didn't have a car so we had to walk all the way back to our hotel when we were done, and when we got back I was so tired I didn't even get to eat at the buffet we went to, I literally passed out in the booth with my dad. #2 we decided the night before we left to get some McDonald's, and my mom ordered the 4 McChickens for us, which turned out to be the spicy ones, and only bought ONE medium drink. Keep in mind my little six year old mouth had never had anything spicy, so I was basically bursting in flames and everyone kept hoging the drink. All these experiences sucked, but I guess in a funny and ironic way, they're the memories that stick with me and I think fondly of them.

2:20 the luggage thing is a safety regulation for ground crews who have to pick up and move our heavy ass bags constantly true heroes
@RampAgentLife Жыл бұрын
Ramp agent here!👋🏻 Yes, it is a safety regulation both on the ground and in flight, because if there's too much weight in a certain area of the cargo bins, it will throw off the center of gravity on the plane, which could cause the plane to crash😰
