I cannot find the exact words to describe what impact this video had on me today. I have watched hundreds of Marks videos and have followed him across the world as if I were right there beside him. Mark has taught me so much over the years, but today.... your guest Lindsay..... she made me think a little different today. Every word that she spoke came from her heart. Passionate and knowledgable yet surprised and inquisitive. A true master of the durian. It's not just a fruit. Its history. That sent shivers down my spine! This video just made it into my all time top 3 favourites. Mark and Lindsay, if you ever get to read this comment.... Thank you.

Dear Lindsay, if you think only Thailand has a 300 yr old durian tree, then you havent really found the durian. Pls come to Pasir Pandak, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysis and discover at least 250 yr old durian trees which some trunk is as big as 2 meters in diameter. The big bonus is if yiu can find the 'durian tembaga'.

Wow! My mouth is watering seeing those juicy durian, from the 300 years durian tree. Yummy! I also love Jackfruit which when ripe smells close to the durian. The jungle scenery was awesome too. I wish I lived there in Thailand, to get my hands on some of those fruits and spices.

Welcome Lyndsey a Durian Expert! If you ask your friends, 50% hate its stinky smell but the rest love this expensive sweet cheesy fruit. In Thailand, we believe Durian has a hot effect in your body, which can be cooled down by eating mangosteens or drinking a glass of water mixed with a little salt. I end up eating a whole durian, followed by 1 kilogram of mangosteens.

That girl is totally wrong..actually durian is a native tree in most part of southeast asia (tropical forest)..in malaysia we also have a lot of durian variety including the native one (called durian kampung) & the hybrid one (called durian kahwin) such as musang king,black thorn,D101 etc..i notice in some part of thailand,they pluck the under ripe durian and sell it..under ripe durian usually comes with longer stalk..in malaysia,we let durian ripen and drop by itself..so that's the perfectly ripe durian to eat..please check your fact before you claim yourself a "durian guru"..cheers from Malaysia ✌🏻
@suhanakhalib4 жыл бұрын
Historically phattalung is used to be malay land before annexed into siam/thai by british as an ally. Then the name of phattalung itself derived from malay word petaling or some people said bendelong/merdelong. Same goes to yala = jalo, pattani = patani (pantai ini), narathiwat = menara, krabi = gherbi, chaiya = cahaya, phuket = bukit, tarutao = tertua, songhkla = singgora etc...
@29sentz3 жыл бұрын
Yeah this girl comes out of nowhere as the "durian expert" and is greedy and self-centered: " When I got the call, I came over" she says. I, I, I, I, I all about me and the ego with her. Taking claim as an expert. Wild durian is better than grafted durian I hear anyway (like in RawBliss video from Borneo). They only grafted durian to make it more sugary, they just wanted sugar content which is why they grafted durian, claiming it "jas better odds" of growing into a successful full-grown tree (with high-sugar durians on it). Wrong direction, durian sugar content should be lower and more subtly sweet and more of just a fatty, creamy fruit, not a sugar fruit. A shame what humanity has done to the durian fruit and all their CLONING aka grafting.

I don't think she is durian expert when she belittles Malaysian durian as new. Durian tree in my village in Kelantan even bigger than that Phattalung tree. She said Malaysian durian is new because she only went to Chinese owned orchard. If you go to Malays orchard you will find heritage durian kampung tree of hundred years. In fact the word durian is came from Malay word, Malays cultivate durian long before since Tai people still as hunter gatherer at Yunnan hills 800 years ago.

No it was because the British (used to colonize Malaya) use the word and introduce it to the world . Nothing to do with the origin of the plant ! This young durian lover Self proclaimed as durian expert is somehow offending all those real expert and researchers in the agricultural fields. I mean i too have passion eating durian. Own a few durian trees and eat durian all my life yet not proclaimed myself as an expert. 😂
