Good on you for doing IL2, and any game in fact with, a more moderately priced PC.

I second this! Thank you so much for doing IL2 with a 4070! Please do a 4070 video with DCS and it will possibly sell me on big screen vr! I just want to see if my 3090ti or something like 4070 how smooth it would be.

Would like to see you review BigScreen Beyond VR headset with an RTX 4070 based system in DCS.

Looks fab. I would say, the whole, sweating element, and physical nature of wearing a VR headset is actually quite immersive, in a strange way. As both a WW2 pilot, and fast jet pilot, your face is encased in either googles, with no ventilation and a leather oxygen mask, or a helmet, with oxygen and a visor. What I'm getting at is actually having headset on actually makes it more realistic in terms of the physical strain you feel.

All things being equal, IL should be running @90fps with modern VR hardware and PC's for as old as it is. It shouldn't surprise anyone.

how would you say the sweet-spot/edge-to-edge clarity compares to the Reverb G2? Seems a lot of people (me included) are looking at the Beyond as an upgrade to sim VR from the G2, and probably the biggest grief with the G2 is the poor edge-to-edge clarity.
@VRFlightSimGuy Жыл бұрын
Much better than G2. Best to check out my full review and various videos. Thanks for watching :)

@@VRFlightSimGuy glad to hear it! I think I've seen your other videos on the beyond but cant recall the e2e clarity mentioned, might've missed it 😅cheers!
@markkovalcson7243 Жыл бұрын
@@IllIlIIllIlIl The term "eye box" is what it typically used to describe e2e clarity. The term "sweet spot" has to do with headset placement. The beyond requires accurate placement over your eyes because of how small the displays are. This is a key reason they need a custom facial interface to place the displays more perfectly in front of your eyes. The sweet spot is one area that I understand may be improved with the production optics.

Is it fresnel lense? Can you wear glasses under them? Vive pro with Samsung gear lens mod works well with my eyeglasses since 2018
@VRFlightSimGuy Жыл бұрын
Bigscreen provide lens inserts for the Beyond, as there is no way you'd wear this with glasses. Since the facial interface is moulded to your face shape

As far as I'm concerned, quick missions in IL-2 only tell half (or probably less than half) the story in that game. If you are like me and mostly fly offline, you'll probably end up in career-mode sooner or later and that's where the problems can start. In my experience, certain maps cause massive FPS-hiccups under certain conditions (usually when there are a ton of AI pilots and/or AI-powered ground objects around). I do run a 4070 with an i7-14700KF and 32 GB of fast DDR4 and I can't get any higher than 75 to 77% resolution (downscaling via OpenXR) on my Reverb G2, even with very modest in-game details. And even that reduced res/eye-candy will be enough to give me short FPS-drops - which are very noticeable in VR. They also happen when I play on a monitor, but briefly going from 130 - 160 FPS to 90 - 110 FPS isn't really that noticeable while you're playing the game on a screen. The maps that seem the worst culprits are Kuban and Normandy - the other ones run pretty great for me, even in career mode and quick missions are usually also very smooth. And while I don't spend much time on IL-2 PvP-servers, the few instances where I did hop on one ran remarkably smoothly as well - no AI or very few AI units, I suppose?

Can you mention if you did testing for any other simulation games like DCS, MSFS 2020, iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally on more than just 4090 GPU but something less powerful and how it performs at that resolution? If possible would love for someone to create another video on it. Right now seems most everyone reviewing this headset I find out is using 4090 GPU. Great video love to see more!

Very nice video. I'm experiencing issues (flickering, aliasing) with my Quest 2, I have been told this could be due to the 4070 I bought (PC equipped also with I5 13600k and 32 GB RAM): do you have any experience on this? I've tried everything to fix: Oculus Debug Tool, Sidequest, Virtual Desktop, etc... thanks

check audio is steamvr / occulus are set to widnows default, check your cables rate with the meta tool in devices, if you dont have usb 3 or your port is not usb 3 could be issue. same rig exactly, no issues on my end (4070, i5 13600k, 32gb w/ occulus 2) nice taste ;)
