And we're back again with the Melting Muppet for another exciting video, well that's what I tell myself anyway🤔. I lot of Copper pours in this video with over 15 kg poured. An awesome Motor donated by my friend, but I tell you what , it was bloody hard going trying to move it that's for sure weighing in around 300 to 350 kg. It was a bit of a pain and unfortunately I could only melt the Copper side of stuff as you will see in the video. I will never be able to forget that cardboard under a crucible stops a firebrick from sticking. That’s just a small part of my brain which is now occupied until my dying days. I don’t even know what a firebrick is, but if ever I need one to not stick to something - I’m golden.

Watching bigstackd weekly is really helping with my (me) metric conversations. Metric is so much easier than, "well is it 1/2 inch or 5/8?" Versus 10mm or 9. Surprised no drop beers when the sun goes down.

Oh wow! Thanks again for the huge donation mate. I really appreciate it buddy it will definitely filter down to the dogs in the way of treats that’s for sure. I don’t know if I could handle those kind of temperatures you’re talking about the lowest it’ll get here on this property is -1°C, but it definitely won’t go under that. It’s currently 16°C and I’m thinking of putting on a jacket or lighting the fire as it’s getting quite cold out here in the shed. It’s 3 pm and wet and windy so I might even just call it a day. Go spend some time with the boys And maybe get a game plan for tomorrow’s melt . Actually, I might shoot into town to the hardware store. See if they have any cheap outdoor waterproof lights for the melting area as we’re coming into winter and it’s gonna be cold and wet for the next few months. It's weird. I've an affinity for some metals. Silver and copper and I like each other. I always have a silver ring on, and copper is just a pleasant metal. Iron somehow feels rough and harsh, at least in my head.

Wonderful copper melt! My favorite. Those bars and coins looked great, plus 2 more tags for your collection. Those are turning out better than i expected. You are working on gravel. When you dismantle motors, generators, etc, small parts could be lost. If you use a tarpaulin on the ground, it would be more efficient to recover parts af broken aluminium or zinc, screws and even copper dust when you cut stators or transformers. Thanks for your videos.

Copper is such an interesting metal. When I was making pottery, copper oxide and copper carbonate were used quite often as colorants in glazes. Depending on the firing method, copper would produce greens, reds, pinks, and bright copper-penny. It's nice to see you salvage!

@@flar4282 the one we have at work that we just got rewound is 50+ years old and has got to be close to 1 ton as our 2 ton engine crane had a hard time moving it. Definitely gotta keep your feet away from under it when its being moved. The output shaft is about 2.5-3 inches in diameter.

I try to finish videos befor commenting, but to quote Ralph Wiggum - "It tastes like burning!" (I mean, you DID have Simpsons up, so it only makes sense....) In a more scientific answer, it'd taste like the copper wash that blood tastes like... in the nanosecond before your taste buds were seared off permanently. Probably not the least of your problems if you tried drinking molten copper. On another note, when you zoomed in on the helicopter and commented about spy planes, I thought you were joking. Damn there's a LOT of planes flying overhead!
