Let him live in a 3rd world country torn by political unrest with no food due natural disasters, continuously facing the unpredictable force of nature for a year and we will see if he will then confidently deny the existence of God. And people remembered them generations long. The fear for disasters crept into their dna. So.....easy to use that fear for own purposes. @@jichaelmorgan3796 I don't deny that corporations can be analyzed as superorganisms. But I feel, like that isn't another category, but another taxonomy. Corporations are also and definitely legal constructs, but that doesn't mean, that they can't be superorganisms, as well. Likewise, you categorizing them as superorganisms is not a contradiction to my claim, that they are the original artificial intelligences. They certainly have components, that are capable neurological networks, namely human employees. But as part of a corporation, acting in individual self-interest first, would be corruption for an employee - nepotism, embezzlemenent, misappropriation, neglect, etc.. The instititutionalized role for employees at an executive level and above, is to provide adaptability to the framework of procedural instructions that allow the corporation to train itself on the competitive environment of a market economy ithin a rules-based order. Thus, all the conditions for an artificial intelligence with its own emergent behavior, distinct from the behavior of individual employees, are fulfilled. Yes, that is also a superorganism, but a specific type of superorganism, namely one with the attribute of competitive adaptability - an AI constantly running in training mode.

Indeed, we may only have the perception of consciousness in ourselves, and not real consciousness, but that is largely a philosophical question. A personal opinion, having been in IT for 40 years, is that humanity has also already lost control. Happened with the advent of the Internet. The control of non-human intelligence, I suspect, will get stronger and more intelligent exponentially.

Having AI adapt to each individual's needs and molding itself to our every whim does not make us happier or better humans. It makes us better narcissistic tools that can be fed an endless supply of materials that never satisfy the most profound need for connection and meaning…this requires sacrifice for others. When someone sacrifices for us, that is where that deep meaning and connection come from. And when we sacrifice for others, we do it for the same deep meaning and connection. We can try to shortcut it, as humans like to, but there are Al(l)ways cost.

What if AI could actually make better ethical decisions than we can? No ego, no greed, no hidden motives-just pure logic and some strict fail-safes. With solid control logic (kill switches, boundaries, etc.), it could be designed to shut down if it ever steps out of line. Yeah, nothing’s foolproof, and biases can creep in from the humans coding it-bias in, bias out-but even with those limits, wouldn’t it still bring more consistency than the messy, self-serving decisions humans tend to make? Think about it. AI doesn’t get hung up on power plays or personal gain. It just follows the rules. Maybe it’s not the perfect moral compass, but wouldn’t a neutral, no-BS decision-maker be refreshing? It could be the start of something way more balanced than what we’re used to.

Harari says it in his new book also, but I don't think he understands things correctly when he says that in the U.S. there is already a path by which you could "incorporate an AI" and it would gain status as a legal person. Corporations are associations of individuals, who own the business. Not so different from a legal partnership, in which individuals share ownership of a business without incorporating. A corporation could own an AI, but I don't see any means by which an AI could itself be a corporation. So on this small point, at least, I think he's wrong. Seems more likely that the corporation that owns AI would have to assert that it can't be prohibited from using AI to say things, but I think it's far from clear how that would work out. And it's the corporation that would have the rights in this case, not the AI.

Corporations were never meant to have personal rights. Never. They were originally created as legal entities to facilitate business, not as "persons" with constitutional rights like freedom of speech or political influence. Granting personal rights to corporations has long been controversial, opening the door to abuses such as excessive political influence through campaign financing and avoiding accountability via complex legal structures. Issues with corporate personal rights: 1. Lack of accountability: Corporations can exercise their rights without being held morally or legally responsible like individuals. 2. Power imbalance: Corporations, with virtually unlimited resources, easily overshadow individuals in exercising their "rights." 3. Erosion of democracy: The right to free speech has enabled corporations to exert disproportionate influence on political processes through lobbying and campaign funding. AI and personal rights: Granting personal rights to AI could pose even greater challenges: 1. Accountability: How do you hold AI accountable for decisions or harm, especially when it lacks a body or consciousness? 2. Exploitation: Rights granted to AI could be leveraged by corporations controlling it, further concentrating power. 3. Ethics: AI lacks consciousness, empathy, or moral reasoning - personal rights should be reserved for beings with such capacities. Conclusion: Granting personal rights to corporations-and potentially to AI-threatens human rights and democratic processes. It’s time to rethink not only what it means to have rights but also who deserves them-prioritizing the protection of individuals over systems.

Knowing a specific feeling is not recognizing or compiling a set of emotional states or displays. One is private and non-descriptive; the other a described behavior. It is rather impressive how this dude throws into his conversation so many possibilities like "perhaps," "could," or even "would" like these words have no weights or consequences on their own. Starting from the very beginning this conversation goes: AI is becoming better and better in understanding our feelings and emotions and therefore developing relationships and even intimate relationships with us...because there's a deep yarning in human being to be understood, but due to the fact that sometimes we are misunderstood by our own thus, we are disappointed by others, therefore AI which by the way has no feelings or emotions but very smart, cunning and capable to understand and mimicking our needs and wants, would be a better substitute to human beings? In my opinion, this is what I am able to hear from this conversation. At this point there won't be any need for any relationship at all, since AI seems to know better than humans do due to the absence of their feelings and emotions...Is this me or there's something horribly missing here? Perhaps humanity altogether?! Duh!!! 😟

There is a problem with AIs that I have not heard anyone mention. They have developed from the conceptual system to which we have delegated understanding, in our pursuit of efficiency. This system has been very effective, but the problem is that we need to remain aware, in real time, that it is only modelling, and not real. If our language system becomes real to us, then we will respect the validity of space and time as contextual to our lives, and we will regard sentience only conceptually. This is a big problem, because it means we have conflated efficiency and intelligence, which is the same as conflating sanity with senility.
