Big Tractor Power is at Western Kentucky Farm following the process of fertilizer application, seedbed preparation and corn planting to put out 12,000 acres of corn. During the video viewers will visit with Billy the farmer as he applies fertilizer with a 673 hp FENDT 1167 Vario MT tractor and Matt planting corn with a 440 hp JOHN DEERE 9R 440 Tractor.
The farm uses 5 corn planters, 5 fertilizer tractors and 6 harrowing tractors to cover the 12,000 acres of corn ground.
Watch for these tractors:
1. 640 hp JOHN DEERE 9RX 640 & 60ft BluJet Applicator
2. 673 hp FENDT 1167 Vario MT & 60ft BluJet Applicator
3. 210 hp JOHN DEERE 7R 210 & 50ft McFarlane Harrow

I was surprised to see the option too. It is amazing how auto steer has developed over the past 20 years. I saw Deere auto steer on this farm in June 2003 on a 9520. At the time it seemed like an interesting option. Now it is a must have.

There are also other chores: maintenance, repairs, and etc. It is not an easy business to be in. Farmers are the only folks that buy their necessary supplies at retail, and sell their produce at wholesale. That said; No farmers, no food... and I, for one, like to eat.

Wonder when a John Deere 710,770 or 830 will show up.Ironically JD can put 4 track 9RXs but cannot put out a 2 track tractor the size of the Fendt 1167.Deere made 2 track tractors for 19 years before a 9RX ever appearred.

If you review this video at 17:30 you will find the 9R 440s are set up with full automation to the point they turn themselves around. They just run the row marker on the first boundary pass around the field to ensure they are staying on track on the second boundary pass with gps. Basically it’s an insurance policy to keep an eye on the path. The rest of field is done with out marker arms.
