That is one huge planter. It was nice having the farmer talking about the equipment. Gives a different perspective hearing the farmers thought on it.

Quite a planting team Jason. Really enjoy when you talk to the farmer and get his perspective on the equipment and why they run what they run. Another awesome video.

Insane! I lived on a farm in the 70s and 80s. We farmed 1500 acres in southwest Missouri. Our largest field was 200 acres with the odd tree or power pole here and there. Back then it was 6 rows, 30 inch on center. We could have never made that rig work. I love it!

Impressive, I grew up with the 4010 nf open air. Remember switching from front mount cultivators to the 6 row rear mount, now a disabled army veteran.thank you to the farmers.

This is a big planter for sure, but those 120's were unreal. There was a farm here in the thumb of MI that ran them that had a YT channel where they posted videos of them planting. It's always interesting to listen to the farmers, especially the ones like this man who speak right up and don't mind explaining things. Thank you farmer.

This is a nice setup and I like it. I’ve also seen a John Deere 9470R tractor pulling a DB 120 planter with modifications to make it a 32 row planter on 40 inch row spacing. It was planting no till cotton into winter wheat out in Oklahoma.

Thank you jason for this video that is one big corn planter . The technology has come very long way since the 60s and 70s 80s It's amazing .love to see one working in the field .that frame would have to made very heavy to support that kind of weight and length.

We run a lot so here I go. I run an 8R 410 pulling a 16/31 2140 case planter for beans. We also run a case 420 rowtrac on a Great Plains 2425 on beans, 8R 310 on a 12/23 1240 case planter on beans/corn, 8R 340 on a Deere 1775NT for corn, and lastly a Deere 8400 on a Great Plains 1225 for beans/corn. It’s hectic.

Very interesting to talk with Neil. Why he don’t have starter fertiliser with the planter?
@MorganOtt-ne1qj
@MorganOtt-ne1qj 9 ай бұрын
I'm guessing it's both the time and weight. Would take a lot of tanks to match the seed hopper size, and roughly 40 acres per fill. He would need about 4000 gallons of tanks, whether they are frame mounted, saddles, or pull behind. Add the extra half hour+ to fill the tanks, and he could have been planting another 20 acres. Everything is a trade off.

In southern Kentucky ground warms up fast. Several guys use it but we never got it to pay on our farm. Corn always gets off the a faster start when you use it though.

My best day with a 6 row Allis 333 was 100 acres, but that was including 2 milkings and feedings, 2 stops to shove food in , and filling starter tanks. That day was not quite 24 hours for me. I was slacking. 😯🤣🤣

I believe if I could afford a half million dollar planter. I would pay the $ 8000 for markers. Just in case the satellite goes down.
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 8 ай бұрын
This farm’s last DB90 had markers. They bought it in 2012 and only ever used the right marker on the boundary rounds. The paint was never scoured on the left marker in 12 years of use. Still a helpful back up to have.
