Yes houses are slowly taken over this field. Only 25 acres left. Still lots of open land around it. This virus is right on the edge of town.

I could sure use that for my 8 rows by 50' of sweet corn. Oh yea, it wouldn't fit through the 6' gate and I'd have to plug 16 rows. Nice video.

Nice video Jason, nice touch with the explanation. But I was wondering why they use a 9r instead of a same horsepower 8r? Is it cheaper or does it have more traction die to more weight or maybe more torque?

I heard 30-inch row spacing. I did not hear how deep the seeds are planted, or how far apart the seeds are planted within the rows. Do you have that info? As for content, I would like to see and hear about the unique processes required for planting in bottom-lands near creeks and rivers, dealing with more wetness than in the high and dry fields in this video.

That’s an expensive planter Jason. I didn’t know those cost as much as they do. I enjoy the videos as always. I wonder about those air carts and planters if they can cover at least the 250 acres the NT planter does?
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 9 ай бұрын
It is a big investment. As it is optioned out on fertilizer, row units etc…. It can end up costing $500,000. An air cart could hold more seed but it would compact the soil more. The Support wheels on a 24 row planner fully full of seed really leave a solid path across the field right under those bulk fill tanks. 100 bu of corn seed is heavy and the planter is set up to only need one or possibly two fill ups a day. In over a minutes time you can fill both tanks. Maybe five minutes to allow the tractors to move the pro boxes around.

Hi Jason, I have a quick question. It seems to me that JD has cornered the market on planters or is that my misperception? P.s., I always enjoy your videos and listening to your narration.

I work as a technician at a dealership in sw Minnesota. We have two 24 row exact emerge 1775's that came back from being leased out this spring. The customer had mentioned to our service manager that he didn't think the rows were set right when he was cultivating. Turns out he was right. We folded them out and did measurements. The rows near the center of the planter aren't set right. Some were 31 1/2 apart, and some were 29" apart. It came out about the same on both planters. The thing is, you can't move the rows in the center because the bracket is welded to the frame. The outer rows have u bolt brackets, so you can adjust those, but they're all in the right place. Has anyone else noticed this?

I would like to find a 490 or 494A to film. The nice thing on this 1775 NT is it has Martin Row Cleaners on the front of the row units which are two disks with spikes. The cleaners just push the rocks out of the way. This little hill was the only rocky place in the field. If you see the last clip in this video there is a 6150M loader tractor parked on the hill were they are hand picking up the rocks and placing them in buck. You can plant and move on and pick rocks afterward.

5 mph works well here. The fields are not flat and farms find the slower speed works best.

I just don’t understand why farmers use high horsepower 4X4 tractors to pull planters. Seems like a waste of money. When I grew up on a farm, we pulled a 6 row planter with a 68 horsepower tractor and it pulled it easily. I realize this is a 24 row planter, but 440 Horsepower 4X4 seems overkill. But you see this all the time in farming videos.

Hydraulic flow requirements
@MarkShireman
@MarkShireman 9 ай бұрын
@@mattwilson4381 So farmers buy 2X more tractor than is needed to pull a planter because a 225HP tractor does not have a large enough hydraulic system. Even though 225HP would easily pull the planter. Hmmm…not buying it cowboy. Try again.

Wow, what a great market opportunity for a tractor company to make smaller HP tractors with larger hydraulic systems. If only someone would do it!
@farmerjohnson8121
@farmerjohnson8121 8 ай бұрын
The planter weights 11,900 pounds empty. By the time you add seed have more weight. Hydraulics is a big factor to. Also to plant faster you need more horsepower. High speed planters can plant. 9 mph or faster. Another factor is ground type and hills.
