I already put a comment to say thank you but I just wanted to add something about the new Hornet 1000. This is really a game changer in terms of price, not only for naked but also in general. It’s price and specs, notably for the SP, are exaggeratedly better than most of what can be found today in the market ✌️

I was a BMW dealer when that aired. It helped BMW to carry on building the 1150GS for an extra year, giving them more time to develop the 1200GS. It changed the perception of BMW. In the UK sales went from a reliable if stagnant 3000 units a year to 9000 now. it helped change everything.

Interesting how things seem to be going backwards in certain ways. One of my bikes is an old Fazer 1000 that has more power and more comfort than the new Ninja and only cost me £2100 when I bought it in 2015 on 20k miles. A perfect sports tourer for absolutely no money, and it still looks good.

It would be great to see a comparison video between that and the 900rs as so many people seem to want to upgrade but also many love the smaller 650. I'd be interested in pros and cons to either especially from a newish riders perspective. I.e handling, weight etc.. All the best 👍🏻

Just yesterday got back from a 2,000 mile tour of the American Southwest! Did over 300 miles a day on a BMW GS 750! It was absolutely amazing and did some extreme off riding during the tour (mostly pavement). I can tell anyone, that BMW is one tough bike! Tons of on road power and very nice on the dirt…..the cruise control and heated grips worked great! Cheers from New York!

Great video, very excited about the Tiger Sport 800, might be just what I have been looking for. I confirmed with MCN, who in turn checked with Triumph that it was a standard 120 degree crank like the 660, not a T plane like the 850/900/1200. I think flat plane is something different, MCN have corrected to 120 degee online.

Cheers for the video TMF... always enjoyable. I know you have been playing with your audio and video set up so I thought I would share that you seem to have some kind of background noise/hum happening that I picked up on. Sometimes it just takes a few attempts to figure out how to get it all working smoothly. I've used the RodeCaster myself, and found that it pays to check that your cords in the back are not crossed over each other. Sometimes the power cords can cause interference with the audio cords as one example. Good luck, ride safe, and thanks again for the videos you produce.

Keep it going, Honda 125’s were great starter bikes in my ‘youf’ and much needed to support that move up to larger bikes. Let’s face it loads of riders moving up or down are going for the 400/500 category.

Love the new Audio setup Andy. The “Speed Twin 900” traces its lineage back to the original Street Twin rather than the Speed Twin 1200. The Street Twin always had a single clock rather than the twin clock setup of the “real” Speed Twin. As a 2021 Street Twin owner I’m also confused by this upgrade. In 2021 they made the seat thicker to add comfort and now they’ve slimmed it down again. The lovely rubber/alloy pegs have also been replaced by sportier all alloy ones from the 1200 model. It seems like they are adjusting the spec so that the only real difference between the Speed Twin models is the engine size. That’s fine but the Speed Twin 900 / Street Twin was always Triumph’s best selling retro so It’s strange that this model has been amended so radically. The old 900 was a great tourer with suspension that soaked up the bumps combined with a comfy seat. Not sure these mods would make me want to upgrade mine with the current model. Good to see Charlie and Ewan using older bikes for their latest adventure. The BMW R750/5 will be particularly well suited to long distance travel, it’s reliable easy to work on and parts are readily available and cheap if it needs any. I owned a BMW R60/6 about 14 years ago, it was a 1975 model and was a very practical classic bike to run as all the older BMW’s are. They are easier to maintain and far cheaper to run than current BMW’s and they were built to a better standard than the modern bikes. I can’t say I’ve ever felt the need for a quick shifter on any motorcycle. Cruise control and a speed limiters though is definitely useful especially with the number of average speed camera zones around, it take away the need to keep constantly checking your speedo all the time and therefore aids safety.

I think looking at the amount of people saying don't drop Bike news Andy you should keep it going. I think the majority of us love our monthly fix of news. On another note that new Honda Hornet 1000 SP looks great and the price is unbelievable. I think it will hit Yamaha [MT 09 and 09 SP], Triumph [765 R and RS], KTM [990] and Kawasaki [new Z900] sales hard. And you get 155hp from the SP. That is incredible. I am tempted by one myself though I cannot bring myself to sell my beloved Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 just yet.

With the new CB1000 Hornet priced so much below every other bike in the class, and the new SP having more power as well, that has to be Bike of the Year! Pretty good looking as well. It will sell out in a flash... You have to test the new Ninja 1100SXSE. It looks like a really improved bike this year, and should be popular as well.

I have to say I like the look of the new Speed Twin especially in the burnt orange. I agree it’s not really a retro but as a modern naked it is certainly one I would consider.

Nice review as usual TMF. I have a C400GT and you really should give it a try. After 40+ years biking never sat on a scooter or considered I’d ever buy one then a few years ago just decided to give it a try. It’s not my main bike it’s a runaround but it’s so much more. For a 350 single it tops out a bit over 90mph rides easily at motorway speeds two up is very comfortable with heated seat and grips. The best thing is the ease of use it is a bit weighty but moving it around is no problem it’s very manoeuvrable low seat and handles well for what it is. Like all BMW bikes to get the fully spec’d version it’s £9500 or there about so not sure I’ll be upgrading any time soon.

I love the bike news. It's always full of great stuff. I actually like the look of the new speed twin 900. The speed twin has never been an out and out retro, you can have the T100 for that. As far as the clocks are concerned. The 900 didn't ever have the twin dials found on the 1200. It's previously had the single dial found on the scrambler 900 or speedmaster. I think this is an improvement on that.

Great episode. Thanks for sharing the news. The new graphics and sound are both welcome upgrades. All the best! Oddly, out of all the bikes mentioned during this video, I might be most interested in riding the BMW scooter, which was mentioned right before the close of the paper news section. It looked rather mean, although it'd be better had the fairing complimented the rest of the design, rather than the standalone brown/bronze coloring. That typed, I'd be happy to ride all of the bikes. While I have preferences, I do enjoy all of motorcycling. Afterwards, I like the look of the green Triumph-branded (it's a third party, isn't it?) 400x (Scrambler?) and wouldn't mind having a go on that. I don't know about the ride and specs, but it has the look over it's cousin - There's no contest. I look forward to the upcoming video. Still waiting for more news on whatever Royal Enfield is doing with the upcoming Bullet. Fingers crossed that all works out. I really enjoy Bike News. Sad to hear that it may end. Hope it continues on in some form. It's some of my favorite biking content.
