Man it looks loose and dry there at 17K." What is the humidity? 0%. The best part of these kinds of adventures is the detachment from the rest of the world. Many years ago, went fishing and partying in north Quebec. Left all of our watches and anything that would let us know time in the trucks. Boat-packed everything across a huge glacial lake... about 1 mile to the cabin. It was the most liberating 2 weeks of my life. Mind you it was pre-cell phone. Just counted the sunrises and sunsets to know when we had to leave. We really need to heed Thoreau's words more often in our complex lives-- "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to a front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.'" Great adventure and thanks for sharing.

I agree completely, everyone needs a reset from the technology that infiltrates our everyday lives to gain some needed perspective on what is actually important in life. Unmatched perspective.

Happy Friday! What a bloody sweet Journey. The rocks though. LOL When you said OH NO, around 10:50, I was thinking the same thing. HA the line you were on seemed extra Rocky. Glad to see you made it past that section without a crash. Now no food to eat and more riding left.... next week will be killer. Cheers!

We treated our water with iodine drops every day and had pre portioned meals that could be rehydrated with water. Oats, couscous, nuts, seeds, oil, some premade bars, a bit of salmon. We packed about 2500 calories per day, despite burning 3 times that daily. I lost 8 lbs. We shared a 4 person tent, sleeping pads, stove, down layers, camera gear, spare parts, basically as little as possible to sustain life while moving efficiently in the mountains.

That's the thing though. To get this far away from everything, you have to camp. If this route had easy accommodations, it wouldn't be what it is. That is the point.
